For a permanent fix, remove the tank, clean it & then seal it. KBS coatings make great DIY kits for all size tanks ...comes with heavy duty cleaner, metal prep & tank sealer.
Follow easy step-by-step instructions for a permanent fuel impervious seal.

There is a product called Seal-all comes in a tube, looks like glue. It will seal it up even while it is still leaking at the time it is applied. Remember any of these fixes are only a patch job. You have not stated what kind of tank, plastic or metal. However I have used it on both.

You would be better off getting a new gas tank. Patching it up is only a temporary fix, and in some states, it is illegal to operate a vehicle with a patched gas tank and also some states the vehicle will not pass state inspection if the gas tank has been patched. Now here is the real kicker, if you were to be involved in a accident , and the insurance company inspection finds your gas tank patched, they will not cover any of your losses.

JB Weld is a two part glue. If worst comes to worst, you will have to remove it,drain it correctly add water then weld crack, drain water blow-dry completely then re-install. I've done it before & yes it's a pain in the ***...

JB Weld is the best. Any auto part store such as Auto Zone or Strauss auto should carry it.

There isn't one that'll work for long. Get a new one, they don't cost that much.
