I have my car in the shop and they said they need to replace the cracked drive belts. (It's a 2002 Nissan Sentra.) Can someone tell me what this means? And what were the "symptoms" of this? (How would my car have been acting because of these cracked belts?)

Today i was driving my car and the anitlock brake lights came on, then check guages came on, then service engine soon, then no guages they stopped working, i had my lights on and the interior light were very dim. As i was driving, i can stop, but as my transmission shifted gears it was sluggish. Transmission was rebuilt few months ago. I came home and parked it, try to start it again and would not turn over. I think it may be the battery, because it is about 6 years old and the alternator was rebuilt by a professional 3 or 4 years ago, So am i right about this being a bad battery?

I'm tired of the cost and hassle to change the oil in my car with a mechanic. I'd rather just do it myself and know it's done right.

What pros/cons am I looking at, as I've never done this before? Any advice is much appreciated!

This mechanic tells me it will cost about $240 to get a single rear wheel bearing replaced on a 98 honda accord, including parts and labor ... should I just do it myself? Is a bad wheel bearing a serious problem that should get fixed immediately or can it wait until the weekend?

Hi,
I'd like to get a small lawn equipment battery to use for starting my tecumseh wood chipper. I bought it from a lady who's husband had died and she didn't know anything about it. No operators manual and both the battery connector leads are colored red. Is there a way I can tell which lead is positive and the other negative?

I own a Mazda Familia (Bj5P) 2000 Model since last month my car stalls suddenly when on the move (think it is something to do with heat when I run about 15 – 20 KM’s), I took it to my usual garage and he suspected petrol blockage and cleaned the entire system but the problem remained, then I took it to another place he checked the entire electrical sections and said the coil is heating up so we replaced that but still same issue. Today he mentioned it is the Camshaft Sensor (he says it dies when heated up and after getting cool it works again)

Can someone explain if this can be an issue (am lost and missing my car for the last 2 weeks)

I just got a truck and the guy claims the battery is new. However it sat dead for Im guessing at least two weeks in -0 weather. Is this enough to completely destroy the battery? Its been driven for about an hour and a half when I brought it home so Im pretty sure it got fully charged. I just started the truck and moved it... then an hour later I went to start it again and the starter will turn the engine a little then start clicking fast and stops turning it. The lights seem bright so I figured maybe its the starter. But I ask for your expert opinions. Thanks

I have a 92 Olds Cutlass and noticed that when I get to 50-60 mph it seems to start slipping. I pulled the tranny stick and it smells fine but looks dirty should I spend the money and buy a new filter and gasket kit and drop the tranny pan on it or just take it to a shop and have it looked at? I am mechanically inclined and would rather do the work myself but I'm not sure this will fix it. When your transmission is going bad do all gears slip or not? Thanks for the help!
