moving upward, it bounces and the same happened when the needle comes down. What is more scary is that the speed meter will stay at 45mph and all a sudden it bounces to 60mph and it should be around 60mph. Does anyone have a clue what is wrong? Please help. I have a Honda Accord EX 1994. I never had any problem with this car before. The only time I had trouble was during a cold night when the engine acted very loud and won't turn off even though I took the car key out. Some people told me it was because of the ignition switch. But I am more concern about the meter which will casue me a lot of trouble if I don't know exactly how fast or how slow I am driving. Thanks in advance for those that can help.

Hi there!

I recently posted a question regarding my Peugeot 406TD. Fresh air standing; even with revs, once moving though, there is alot of black smoke. There is more black smoke when the turbo kicks in. The engine runs like new, but the fuel consumption is poor considering a desiel albeit TD, around 32mpg around the doors. The temperature gauge is fine and rarely goes over half way and when it does, it goes down quickly when the fan cuts in.

I have changed the oil filter and done oil change, changed air filter and fuel filter and used an injector additive.

anyway, the latest development is that i have noticed that the oil level on the dip stick has went from full (when the oil and filter change was done) to half way in the space of around 10 days.

The advice i am getting is that it is the piston ring(s). Is this the most likely cause? any other suggestions? My rev counter is very iffy and only works 20% of the time.. could the problem be electrically connected? Chris

On my 87 Accord LXI, the heater blower is significantly weaker at idle than it is when you accelerate. Also, when I hit the brakes while idling/stopped, the interior gauge lights visibly dim and the headlight output dims. It goes back to normal when I release the brake. These issues have been in place since I got the car 2 years ago at 202,000 miles. I assume (perhaps incorrectly?) the blower fading at idle and the brake light effect on the interior and exterior lighting are likely related to the same problem.

Battery was replaced shortly after I bought the car, and it did not affect these problems at all. No better, no worse. Ditto when the alternator was replaced at 206,625. No change.

What steps can I take to further investigate and remedy these issues, since I have good reason to believe it isn't the battery or alternator (the charging system still tests fine)? I'd of course prefer to do it in order of least to most trouble, time and money. Thanks for your input.

Can I actually use the battery to jump start another vehicle. I was told it may mess up my computer on my truck or my battery. I have a full size Dodge, my friend, has a Miatta? convertable. I also was concerned about the size of the battery, does it matter?

I have an old ford 302 in by old boat. I just got the starter rebuilt and there is a new solanoid already there. I was having problems before when I tryed to start the boat, sometimes it would turn over and then stop when I turned the key off, then sometimes when I turned the key off, the motor would keep turning over and over. So I got the starter rebuilt thinking that was the problem. But now that I put the starter in and touched the wire coming off of the solanoid to the positive side of the battery, the motor starts turning over even with the key in the off position. I also disconnected the battery wire from the ignition switch and that did nothing. HELP!!!

Putting liquid in makes me nervous. The warning was on the outside of the cylinder and on the brake fluid itself. Does this mean cleaning the inside of the cylinder tank cover? What happens if it isn't clean? I also spilled a little of the brake fluid on the side when I was pouring it in. Is this dangerous?

I hit a pot hole yesterday, but didn't feel the car wobble & I didn't hear any wierd noises. I assumed it didn't pop(go flat). This happend on a side street going 30 mph. I continued driving, speeds up to 60 mph on a highway for a good 5-10 mins. I finally heard a noise & pulled over. Sure enough, it was flat and the tire started smoking when I stopped. The rim didn't appear to be bent. The tire had a 6 inch incision on the side wall though.

My son accidently left some of his bubble gum on the seat in the car. It's cold outside so I've tried scraping it off, but what else can I do to get the gum off. It's not sunk in, just kinda spread across a little.

I just got my car back from the garage after thinking one of my cv joints was going. But he took it out a few times did some circles etc and got no clicking. He did however think something was wrong with my gearbox maybe... Since picking it up the clutch has gone very heavy and its struggling to get into gear eventually it picks up but takes a while with the revs but the car judders while this is happening.

Is my clutch, gearbox dead?

Problem is at the beginning of December my gearbox exploded and i had to have that replaced with a reconditioned box. At the time the garage also changed the clutch and the fly wheel.

I going to try and drive it 70 miles tomorrow in a hope that the garage in milton keynes can fix it under warranty.

Im really cheesed off tho as i dont know whats wrong and am totally left in the garages hands.

Please, any suggestions on whats wrong would be great.

Oh its a 2001 Seat Leon 1.9 TDI 110 if that helps at all.

Thanks
