Well, If you have an engine noise it would be better to get that checked rather than try to cover it up.It sounds to me like lifter knock. Its not too serious in most cases when you hear slight noise from the engine but still better to have checked.
In most cases its not good to use heavier based oils in these newer cars. They call for a certain viscosity for its best operation.I use 10w-30 in all my vehicles. Its a little heavier viscosity than the 5w-30 that it recommends but I doubt it will lessen the sound that you are hearing.Go to a mechanic shop and have it diagnosed.Last thing you want to do is cause further troubles by continuing to drive it if by chance it has a major problem.

the oil can make a difference. I drive a 02 mitsubishi montero sport and if i put penzoil in it the lifters starts ticking bad. Normally i use valvoline but try mobil or quacker state. Or even look through your owner manuels and see what they recommened. Just with penzoil ive seen to many engines gunk up with old motor oil.

What kind of oil should be the least of your worries if your headers are wearing, but being your car so cheap, a new engine should't be too hard to find and very affordable.

You use the recommended oil the MANUFACTURER calls for. If it is making noises then you have a problem. You can try SYNTHETIC but I doubt thats going to make any difference. Take it to a respectable shop.

5W-30.. No need for premium gas as the manufacturer only recommends premium to fulfill their inflated horsepower ratings and mileage claims. The performance enhancements doesn't even come close to offsetting cost diff between reg and premium.

Then it's not the oil. 5W-30 is what's recommended. maybe you need new lifters. Ask a mechanic.

Use Mobil One the stuff rocks its what I use in my AMG as a matter of fact I think Mercedes uses it in all their cars right from the factory.

what they were refering to was a heavier oil, like 10w30 or 10w40.what kind of noise you hear?if its a ticking, then its probably a lifter.try using a heavier oil.auto zone should be able to pick a heavier oil for you.
