My van runs great and shifts well after warmed up. But, when cold, it hesitates to shift into reverse and then does it with a thud.

Do spark plug wires actually break-down with use?
Do they need to be replaced because of the possibility of damage upon removal?

You don't have to routinely replace any other wiring on a car/truck, what makes spark plug wires any different besides the high voltage (30kV).

I have a water leak coming into the passenger footwell of my Honda Civic. Its from rainfall, as it happens when the car is standing.

When I peel back the carpet on the passenger side, I can see a black rubber type mat that goes from the floor up towards the engine. This rubber mat has a fabric type bottom. The water is coming in under this rubber mat and collecting on the passenger floor.

I stuffed some newspaper under this rubber mat to soak up the water. When I removed the newspaper it was mostly wet on the left hand side (bodywork side).

I tried sealing round the bottom of the windscreen on the passenger side with silicon sealant but this has made no improvement.

I left it into a mechanic on Monday and he sealed bulkheads - its still leaking this morning.

Any ideas how best to trace the leak. I was unable to remove the black rubber mat going up into the engine to get a good look at the source of the water

makes a NORMAL $20 oil change cost more... AND does nothing to help your engine. I think it's a WASTE of dough!!!

Do you agree with me???

I've been using valvoline (regular) in my car for 402,000 miles - no probs.

I was wondering, how to truck drivers change a flat? I saw an 18-wheeler blow out a tire last week and pull over, then I started thinking, how do they change it? They are so big and heavy, and I can't imagine a Jack could lift up the tralior or the truck.

My only guess is that the wheels themselves can be lifted up individually somehow

Heres one for all you auto guru's out there... im asking again... I have a 1994 Chevy C1500 with around 152,000 miles on it... and when i get in to drive it... after the water climbs over 110 degrees (dont know what this has to do with the engine other than cooling the components) its starts tapping, press on the gas... gets louder and faster... sounds like a piston slap or rod knocking but as i drive longer it cuts off and on during the drive... be going along and itll quit ticking/tapping/knocking.... then back on... anyone with info or suggestions, I welcome you to help me out here... cause this is worrying me, i dont have the money to completely overhaul or anything like that... but if its a simple fix or something...

P.S. Ive narrowed it down to the driver side, rear of block... possibly something behind the block, ive never been able to get back there with my truck sittin like it does... Please, any help is appreciate it

I left it parked in the freezing weather for a few days, and now it won't start. It was fine before. 2001 Chevy Metro. Anyone know if the weather could've caused it to not start?
