You need to take a small bag of ice and place it on the spot of gum. Leave it long enough for the piece of gum to completely freeze. Then gently scrape the gum off. This make take repeated tries if the cloth has a heavy weave. Slow and sure so you don't make a hole in the upholstery.

There is this stuff called gum away. It works really good!! It freezes the gum.... Unfortunately I don't know where to buy it. When I was in my late teens I worked at a movie theater and that is what we would use to get the gum out of the seats and the carpet......

The best I have ever had work... was to take and ice cube and chill it real good so it gets hard you can pick it off... without spreading it more...
Can't wait to see if somebody has a better answer..

if they are material seats try brown paper (paper bag thickness) and a warm pressing iron....turn up the heat on the iron as needed....the gum will stick to the paper

GooGone. Get it at the grocery store, with the household cleaners. You may have to let it sit for a while to get it to come loose.
