In the middle of the night, our '97 Ford F150 was trying to start itself without the key being in it. My husband had to disconnect the battery to prevent it from doing this. He replaced the solenoid but that did not work. Does anyone have any ideas? I tried Googling this but I am not getting results pertaining to this particular issue. thank you!

My friend's Jeep Commander is about a year old and she's had this happen several times now. When making a turn, occasionally the steering wheel locks and the car stalls out. In order to start her car again, she has to put the car in park. Her husband has taken it to the dealership and they ran diagnostics on the car and found nothing. Can anyone tell me what it could be? This could cause a serious accident one of these times and it's happening more frequently now.

I'm baffled. About a week ago my glow plugs stopped working (the glow light flicks on and off within a second. i have tried a new glow plug relay with no effect. I know the glow plugs are OK as i am bypassing the relay prior to starting.
I have traced out a sensor from the relay to the coolant system next to the fuel filter(Diesel is preheated by the coolant) and the temp guage sensor. This appears to by OK with the resistance changing when the engine warms up.
I think there is a thermistor in the diesel pump, could this be the fault ? Any ideas on testing ? Or is there any other sensor or relay that i should check.

In advance, many thx

I have a 1998 dodge dakota, and this morning, while driving, it started to shake once i got it into fifth gear. When i let off the gas it stops, but then when i put on the gas it gets terrible. It feels like a balance problem, but it doesnt happen when im not accelerating. The shake is in the whole vehicle, and the stick shakes and moves... Its winter out, could it be ice? Any help would be appreciated, and thanks.

I just bought a Ford Minivan - Sweet van but makes a buzzing sound that sound like it is coming from the steering wheel. One other time I had this problem but it only made this noise when I turned the steering wheel. The noise gets louder when I turn the steering wheel. It sound like the steering wheel unit might be going out. When I drive FAST it does not make the noise at all.

Essentially I'm looking at reliability. It's been a well circulated though among people that when you buy a foreign car it's likely to last longer. Does this still hold true today? I'm looking to get a minivan however we are looking at the toyota siena and nissan quest. They are quite expensive. The american Grand Voyager is much cheaper. Why this price difference. Is this a precieved price hype or is there really a large difference?

Recently the car radiator light has come on signifying no water in the reservior but then go off. Yesterday my wife returned from a short trip and water leaked onto garage floor. I called out racq (roadside service) who said that the problem was a leaking radiator. We got one from the wreckers and then started heading out when the light appeared again so I stopped at the side of the road immediately. I then noticed water leaking from a hose and we replaced it also. We thought that all may be fine but on a test run the light came on again signifying no water. Having no luck we removed the thermostat before replacing the gasket. Again tonight the light came on when out. My friend isn't sure whether its a blown head as there is no water in the oil, water is still in the reservior and the temp doesn't rise above the 'a' in normal despite the light coming on. The temp hasn't risen much higher than this in the past, but there is a build up of pressure. Any advice appreciated.

My honda civic just got roadworthied, but they told me that the thread on the sump plug is really worn and that the oil would probably keep leaking. Funnily enough I never noticed it leaking before, but now its dripping like a tap. I know I need to fix it, and I was told by the mechanic that its something to do with helicoil being replaced, but they need to get in a special technician to fix it, making me responsible for paying for parts, labour for the technician and also labour for the mechanic. Quoted me about 180 bucks.

I'm trying to get it cheaper then that by finding a mechanic or repairer who can fix it themselves. Does anybody know of anyone or anyway to repair this as economically (yet still for the long term, and as effectively) as possible?

Thank you!
