I wonder how temperature and pressure increase after ignition in cylinder of auto engine.....
is it just one explosion or a continous explosion (after ignition) throughout the cylinder....increasing the temperature as the burning continue.....

When put on a diagnostic it read "Downstream O2 Sensor slow to react." The mechanic was very vague about what this was & cleared the message but it came back two days later. Can someone enlighten me with a little more detail & tell me where this sensor is located?
Thanks!

Got a 99' tracker, it doesn't happen everyday, but I've been having problems that when I apply the brakes to stop, it rumbles slightly and feels like it's going to stall. It doesn't happen everyday, and only happens after the car's been running a few minutes, later except for the car feeling slightly rough it won't do it anymore. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

1984 Ford 150 Pickup - New Battery- Started with new battery but once it reaches a certain rpm either idling or moving it cuts out and stalls. Tried to restart but all this did was run the battery down. Then jump started and everything ran fine even at high rpms. Drove for about 30 minutes turned off and would not restart.

I had two keys for a 1997 2500 Ram Pickup Truck. I lost the first one, and was only using the one. Now I lost that one. I already know I'm a dumba** for not making a new one right away so you dont have to restate the facts. Can you get a key made up by going down to the dealer and using the VIN # could they get you a new key or would I have to change the whole ignition? Thanks

I have a 66 Pontiac Ventura w/ 389 v8. My results was cylinder #2-160 #4-165 #6-160 #8-165 #1-165 #3-140 #5-145 #7-170. I did a wet test for cylinders #3 #5 cause of the concern of the diffents from the others results were #3-145 #5-150. I belive that means its not the pistion. I think that since all the others cylinders are about the same and that the #3 #5 are next to each other there is a leak between them in the head gasket. Any body know about this? What do you need to change the head gasket besides the gasket?

I've a Volvo TAMD70C (F6 truck) turbodiesel engine that I need to get timed up and have a certain bolt replaced. However, I myself don't know how to set timing, how it all works in principle exactly or why I can't simply replace the bolt myself LOL. I know where 2 of the timing marks are on the engine (3rd on is missing), and can see that they are apart by nearly a centimetre instead of inline.

Any resources both basic and specific would be highly appreciated. Firstly I don't fully understand in detail the principle of engine timing on either diesel or petrol and secondly whilst I can see the marks near the shims I don't completely understand the mechanism and how to set it and sort it out. A final niggly detail is the problem is only there because an incorrect bolt and washer was used that I have to replace. Replacement by me apparently will make the timing slip so I have to be able to reset it.
Links, tutorials, anything that will advance my knowledge will be vastly appreciated!

I have a 99 Saturn 2 Door Coupe . . I'm told that its my tensioner that is shot. I recently replaced the serpentine belt this summer when I got a new waterpump. Saturn recomended me to replace the tensioner, but I didn't do it at that time. Now its making a loud noise, but only in the mornings when its very cold or at night . . my question is it ok to drive around with that loud screeching noise or could it eventually cause other damages to the engine?? Is there anything I could do that would help the noise until I can get it replaced?

My boyfriend says when it comes to taking my car in for repairs, it doesn't matter he does it or if I do. From personal experience, I usually get hussled and hassled about extra services, or new parts that "they" say I absolutely need. I know having a man handle the process or go with you totally helps. But what do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for your responces.

I have a 2002 Honda Civic and about a month ago, my temperature guage started to go up as if my car is overheating, but no other signs of overheating are present. It can be fine for days at a time, but then it starts acting up again. Can external temp. affect the temp. guage (it seems to act up more when it is colder in the morning)? The thermostat was replaced & it was fine for a short time, but it is overheating again. Most I speak to think it is a sensor problem, but I was researching this problem at other sites on the internet & someone mentioned that in the morning when they start their car, it sounds like for a few minutes that water is kind of trickling under the hood (signaling the need for a new radiator), but as far as I can see, I have no leaks. Does this noise possibly signal a bigger problem than a sensor or is it completely unrelated? I don't notice it every time I start my car after sitting for awhile, only in the morning. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

It smokes like hell when I first start it. Not out of the hood, but out of the tail pipe. I run it for a while and it goes away, but man, when it starts, I'm amazed the fire dept. isn't called! Help!

I have a 94 Pontiac Grand Pris, 176k miles on it but maintained very well and still running. Recently I had a spark plug replaced along with my routine oil change....I am wondering if I should get a full tuneup at my next oil change or if it would be a waste of money considering that I already had a spark plug replaced...Never had a tuneup done before....What do you think?

OK... this is my last straw before I tow it to a shop. When i turn key, nothing happens, NO clicking and if leave key in on position sometimes will get one slow whirring sound like engine/starter is trying to crank.

New battery, neutral safety switch good, ignition coil tested good, grounds appear good, replaced starter. When i check voltages of the two wires going to starter they both are good (12V power and 12V when ignition is turned. For some reason it seems the starter wont work even though voltages are good to it (tried my original one and a new one).

Very frustrating.... but at least i know how to change/check a few things on my vehicle that i didnt before. :) Any last ideas????? Thanks for the help!

Ok I had to take my car into the dodge dealership today cause it has been leaking coolant causing it to overheat. I found out it was a tube that had a leak that connected to the waterpump, that alone cost 250.00 just for a new tube lol. He said my coolant looks dirty so he suggested a raditor flush making the total 400+. Is that the normal going rate or am i just getting ripped off lol. Oh the car is a 2002 dodge caravan 50k miles thanks...

I live in New York, but I'm going to be in California with the family for one month, right in the middle of winter. I do not have a garage, so my Honda Civic is going to be outside. No one will be available to drive the car during the time I'm gone. What's the best way to keep my car in good condition during this time?

Last year, in addition to getting a full tank of gas, I put some sort of liquid in my fuel tank, in order to prevent the water in there from freezing, I think. Is this good? If so, what brand should I use? Is there anything else I should do?

Thanks SO much!
