my vehicle is a mitsubishi pajero 2.8 diesel it has an oil leak to the right hand side front of the engine, just under the top radiator hose. there is a switch with a wire on it, with oil coming out. is it an oil sender switch.

sounds like the oil pressure switch to me. easy to change so thats good !

There are forums on the net for every car model. We diagnosed and fixed a car this way that had defeated all mechanics. There is a reference to this problem, saying that the petrol Pajero is satisfactory but the same sender unit cannot take the extra vibration on the diesel models. A design fault - but there is a fix if you scroll down to bottom of the thread.

Yes. With the engine cold, take of the wire and undo the switch (it's a plug and needs an open-ended spanner). It's likely that the gasket under the switch needs to be replaced. Seal it with a high pressure sealing compound.

This is the place were you ask for car help. It sounds like an oil cooler line is leaking. Most cars today run the oil cooler and radiator in the same system.

It is sounding like oil pressure switch, it sometime fibre washer haf but taper also, you ghange quik, my frent he haf tiny leak switch from, den 1 morning it fail, top fly of all oil pis out thru hole but no warn engine seize, not funy. In mi cuntery we not fancy gizmos haf, we haf dipping stick, we light fire under engine and wen oil thaws we crank up engine, or two with tractor. Gizmos is soft westerners for, we real men in communist blok, we no meed central heat we sleep cows wit, stink a bit mind, but we haf bath when snows melt so is not too bad. That is a oil pressure sensor switch , a very easy job to change it,
it is a common fault

yes it is. it is a simple fix if your gage is reading right just take it out and replace the washer on it or put some thread tape on it. if it is not reading right go to your local auto parts store and buy a new one it will come with all the stuff you need to fix your problem. and for the place to go to for help on the net is go to your manfactors web site.

yes you need to have the oil sending unit replaced.
