For some odd reason, things seem to break down when you need them the most.
Bottom line, Those things in your operators manual can enable you to get another 100,000 miles out of your car.
Have a good mechanic put you on a service program and it will save you the cost of buying another car. Your car will get better gas mileage and be more enjoyable to drive.
Lots of things start to go bad at 200,000 miles and can be overwhelming. And having a breakdown in the winter is a real pain.
Get it waxed and detailed too.
A good running reliable older car can save you on plates, insurance, taxes, gas mileage, etc.
Get the transmission and radiator serviced first. (After getting all the plugs changed that is)

I would advise a tune up. I work in an automotive repair shop- and I drive a pontiac as well, Very good cars- but after 100K miles, they need to maintained. I would reccomend: Coolant flush, fuel filter replacement, Air filter, Transmission service, all spark plugs/wires and a PCV valve. This may be expensive but it will keep the car running for another 176K!

why would you only change one spark plug? you should replace all of them at the same time, they are only a couple bucks a piece for platinum, less than $1 for regular. It's never a waste of money to do a tuneup it's a small cost to keep your car running well. In Short, Yes, do a full tuneup.

If your the original owner and and you've not done anything but put a spark plug in. I would suggest doing a tune up. It will prevent you from having other problems in the future.
I'd make sure that you not only take care of the ignition system, I'd have the fuel injectors flushed, change the fuel filter, and the air filter.

If it ain't broke.....Don't fix it !
Why did you replace 1 spark plug? It should have 6 or 8 depending on the engine. Not a good Idea to change only one. You should have replaced all of them.

Dude!
Your car is 12 years old and has 180K on it, of course you need a full tune up, which would include air filter, new plugs, etc.
One plug does not a tune-up make. now if you plan on trading it in in the near future (less than a year from now) leave it alone. If you plan on keeping the vehicle longer than that, I'd do the tune up.
