My 1990 maxima has an oem flex hose leading into the exhaust manifold. the flex part of it ripped open in one of the flexes. What I am wondering is if I pull the whole exhaust off and take the flex hose out and replace it with a non flex exhaust pipe if it will just snap from the movement from the engine or if i try to patch and plate it will it just start leaking again from the movement restriction. A new y exhaust flex is going to run about 120.00 and i cant see putting that much money into it. I need to get another year out of it. Any thought with the exception of replacing it

I rear-ended somebody in the middle of June. There was a very minor scratch on his bumper. I gave him my information and offered to pay for the repairs out of pocket. About a month passed before he called me with an estimate. At that time, I told him to call me when the repairs were done, and I would meet him at the body shop when he wanted to pick up his car, and I would pay for the work at that time. He called a week or two later, on a Monday, and we agreed to go on Tuesday morning. I asked him to call me Tuesday morning with the address of the body shop, but he never did. The following week I didn't hear from him, and the week after that, the same thing happened. We planned to meet, he was supposed to call me, and he never did. Then the same thing happened a third time, last week.

At what point do you think I no longer have an obligation here? I feel like I've gone out of my way to try to work with this guy, but he hasn't been trying very hard to get this taken care of.

On the front of my engine there is a slow oil leak that has been going on for sometime. I keep up with the oil level and just had an oil change. I would like to know how I can pinpoint where the actual leak is and then fix it. All of your help is greatly appreciated!

I have a standard '92 Toyota pickup. When driving I can change normally from 1st and into 2nd gear. However, when I am going to change into 3rd gear, I have trouble as well goes for the 4th gear. 5th gear and reverse also work fine. I am only having trouble changing into 3rd and 4th gears. Does anyone have an idea as to what might be happening to my transmission?

Some older cars have drum brakes on the rear. Those are the brakes that I am curious about. They seem to last forever.

I understand that in the UK from 1st Jan 2007 there will be a commercial ban on using cellulose paint systems for re finishing vehicles. Can anyone tell me if this means that cellulose paint will be completely unavailable or will it still be for sale for private use only ?

The check engine light came on last night for the first time and immediately my speedometer began lurching up and down, my console lights began dimming and going back to normal and it sounded like my engine was revving lower than normal when I had it out of gear. Does anyone know what this might be?
I've had thousands of car problems in the past, and haven't encountered this one so I'm kinda clueless. I live in NYC, so if I don't have a good idea what the problem is when I take it to get repaired, I'll end up paying $4500 and probably get a new paint job to boot. I don't feel like being taken advantage of, so if anyone knows what mechanical issue might cause this to happen please let me know!

Thanks a billion....or, $4500 worth!

Yesterday my day time running lights on my 2000 Pontiac Bonneville started blinking on and off on thier own. Is it maybe and electrical problem or grounding problem? All other electrical items in the car work fine. I can also hear a faint clicking noise in the dash when they blink. When I turn on the regular headlights, they work fine and stay on but I can still hear the clicking noise.

O/D will not stay engaged after shifting into O/D... Car wasn't driven for 18 months at 24,000. Approx 1 year ago. Fluid is red, doesn't smell bad. Driving down freeway one day and it disengaged and hasn't worked since. Maybe 300 miles ago...

So therefore, I can't reach in the front of the hood and press the latch to open it. It sounds like the cable is still attached at the lever under the dash, and it may be broken towards the front of the car. I guess I need to remove the plastic grill on the front for starters. I realize I could drive down to my friendly local Saab service center. However, I'd rather not part with half my life savings to get the hood of my car open. And yes, the next time I buy a car, I'll remember not to get a Saab.
