Which is better as an economy tyre, Merit or Federal?

It is very hard to merit a tyre, distance travelled and safety being key issues. You DO get what you pay for alot of time but bear in mind if you are not tearing around a race track and drive sensibly both should give you good service but Federal are held in high esteem and at the right price should be better
