My daughter is 17 and lives with us in our CA home. She has her license and has been bugging me to let her drive my car. She says she does not need to be on our insurance because she is an occasional driver and insurance follows the car not the driver. Her father will be getting her a car and insurance within the next 2 months, and she believes she doesn't need to be added to our insurance. My husband says she can't drive it unless she is added as a driver. Someone please help ease this drama in my home. Who's right in this situation?

If my name was put on the title of a car (I'm 18), would it affect the insurance rates even if the car was insured under my parent's policy as a occasional driver?

Does the insurance company have the right to change the rates on a car depending solely on whose name is on the title?

hi there, i hit the car infront of me on the motorway in stood traffic, the guy infront braked really hard to i bummped in to him. He only had a small scratch on his rear bumper and said his car is going to go in for a paint job next week and it will probably cost another 170pounds to get the back bumper sprayed. so i paid the guy 170pounds for the spray job there and then, i had 5 people in my car who witnessed the payment but i got no receipt off him. And now 3 weeks later he has rung me and says its going to cost 1000pound, because he needs a new bumper he is trying to blackmail more money out of my so he can pay for the bonnet respray which he wanted to do before. what do i do ? ive paid him for the spray job and now he wants more money and i cant afford it. should i go trhought insurance but will be worse off ??? what do i do anyway around i will win ?

3weeks ago i was on the motorway doing 5mph in stood traffic. And the brand new car bmw in front braked suddenly and i hit him from the back. There was no damage to my car but a small scratch on his car and he said to me that we wont go through insurance as no one wins and then he told me he will let me know wat happens and it will only need respraying for about 100quid. And now he rung me and says its going to cost 1000pounds. he is trying to rip me off. There were no witnesses and he is overstating his damage to his car, and i cant afford it. Therefore is there any way around it, any loppholes if i go through insurance and could make out it was his fault????? cos ive got claim going through my insurance already ????? is there any way i could win this over and say it was his fault ??? please help thanks when the accident happened we never exchanged insurance details but only name and adresse and registration details what could i do ?

I got my permit last week. I got 100% on it too. My mom called a driving teacher and he should be here on Sunday. He's going to teach me how to drive for 3 hours. My mom can't take me because of her job.
So, I was wondering, do you guys think I'll be able to drive after I'm done w/ the teacher?

I'm afraid I won't be able to ever drive. It looks so scary and I'm terrified. :(

I also bought this car out of state and purchased it off the internet. A friend of mine told me since i bought the car through the internet and out of state i do not need to pay local state sales tax on the vechicle. If this is true it will literally save me thousands of dollars.

I have never had a drivers license, my husband always took me everywhere I needed to go. He passed away, but I still own the vehicle. I kept it so people could take me somewhere. The insurance we always had still allows me to keep coverage on my vehicle. I was wondering is this legal? Can an insurance cover a vehicle if it's not a licensed driver that owns it, and would my insurance cover other people driving my vehicle. I called some other insurance companies to change insurance for lower rates and they told me they couldn't insure my car because I'm not a licensed driver. Can someone please help me and tell me if my insurance company is in the wrong.

I was recently in an an accident where the other party claimed fault. My car was totaled, and I have been in touch with the other party's insurance. They sent me an appraisal which was low, and doesn't seem to have included the following:
- Lo-jack
- Extended warranty on the vehicle
- Trim of the car

Also, the zip code on the appraisal was wrong (maybe intentionally so) When I check on Edmunds or KBB, the private party value is at least 3K higher.

I am going to talk again with the insurance company, but any tips on how to proceed with this? I cannot go to an appraiser it seems since I do not have comprehensive insurance. I am based in California. Thanks
