I felt EXACTLY how you felt when I was 16. I'm 24 now, and driving is so second nature. When I first got in the car I couldn't even tell the instructor the difference between the brake and the gas pedal. It was pretty sad, but within an hour I was driving on the freeway. You can do it! 3 Hours is suffice, I would have your mom take you on her day off for some practice. You will do great!

That first 3 hours is just the beginning---to learn primarily how it feels to use all the parts of the car, gas-pedal, brake, gearing--and how everything works together to make the car respond to what you do. At first it will feel like you're operating a big ship. Depending on how coordinated you start to feel, the next phase is knowing where the car is on the road, at the curb, out there with other cars, etc. You'll need to get a sense of where all 4 corners of the car are - left and right, back and front. Rear-view mirrors, side mirrors, all will tell you where you are on the road etc.
Best way to answer your question--those 3 hours may settle your fears enough so that the NEXT three hours [thanks, mom!] will really feel a ton better. The teacher will know better than anyone else just how much more time you'll need to be safe and comfortable. Everyone is scared at first, but that goes away once you know you can start, stop, turn, back up, and watch the road just like a regular person.
Most permits require you to have another adult licensed driver with you whenever you are in the car...what you learn with your teacher you can practice with your mom. Big parking lots are where you can practice...and practice.. You'll get there...and best of all, you'll know when you do!

Avoid distractions friends in the car for the first 6 months and Night driving only with parents for the first 6 months. Driving is scary and terrifing. You have the right attitude. Everyday your life is in the hands of inexperienced driver. I'm am gona tell you the truth---3 hours of driving---is just about enought to get you on the road and get killed... My course was 4 hoours a day two days a week for seven weeks. Some did not pass the driving class. I'm sure with more instruction they eventually did pass. Maybe 6 hours a week for 4 weeks might work for you. DRIVING is not easy to learn. Don't listen the other yahoos bout how easy it was for them... If you feel that you are not mature enough to handle driving--then do not drive---OK Wait till it is better for you.

Some people pick up driving really quick and you might be good to go after 3 hours. Others take more practice.
I'd suggest taking the three hour lesson, then practicing with your mother or other friends and relatives every so often for a couple of months before getting your license and going out on the road by yourself.

3 hours won't be enough.
Start slow. When you are practicing with your learners permit, and when you first get your license drive when and where there is not much traffic and not at night.
Also go only as fast as you feel safe. If others honk their horn, pass you or flip the bird ignore them. Drive at a speed you feel you can control the car, if that is 10 MPH below the speed limit that is fine.
Also do not multitask. Turn the cell phone off. Leave the snacks at home, leave the radio off or on one station.
As long as you are scared, you are okay, it is when you stop being scared that you are driving a 2 ton killing machine that you become a danger to yourself and everyone else

Matthew, above, has a competent perception into making use of. i think of of making use of as having 2 factors: the policies of the line, and the operation of the motor vehicle. you will desire to be somewhat good at one, that it is going to become habit, so as which you would be able to concentration on the different. the appropriate one is to nail first is controlling the motor vehicle. it is going to likely be instinctive; no thought spared as to the place the indicators are, or which foot is meant to hit the brake. And in this, Matthew is nice. Get to a area the place you are able to basically tension the vehicle, inspite of policies. I had a dry lake mattress, endless miles of dirt highway, and a motor vehicle that would desire to undergo my abuse. a motor vehicle park works properly, too.
