Currently, I am living in CA and driving a resistered car, but I am temporarily going back to Japan about 6 month to one- year; therefore, I want to cancel my car resistation and car insurance. I have already submitted a cancelation form to my insurance company and told from when. however, I am not sure which form I should submit to DMV, non-operation or affidavit of non-use. My resistation will expire on December. I am leaving here in one week. Please let me know... Thank you very much.

When applying for a drivers license for the first time, i was wondering if it increases a person's car insurance; even if the person that is getting the license doesnt have a car, and is under the age of 18.

Yesterday, my two-month-old new car was hit from the side at an intersection (luckily no one was hurt). The driver came out to access her damages (She said a few things like: 'I have to get to work. My boss will be mad.' She even borrowed my cell to 'supposedly' call someone, but their was no record.) and then quickly drove away. All I got was the license plate number. The police didn't even come (weekend). Will that be enough? Do all intersections have cameras?

By the way, if the person doesn't have insurance, they will just have their licenses revoked and pay a fine? Argh, what about my car?

Thanks so much for your response.

Will the ID # be the same for both the Drivers License and the Permit. Currently I am about to get my Permit, and I need the ID# for a form that I am filling out would it be sufficient to write the Permit ID# ? or do I have to wait to get my License before I can fill out the forum? My questions are ?

1: do I have to wait to get my License before I can fill out the forum?
2: Are the Permit ID# and License ID# the same? since I believe they are both 9 digits?

basically you pay a lot to a company in case something happens. in my opinion you should get it back if something doesn't happen. a lot of people say a lot of things about it being for safety. there should be a review to this because once something does happen, very little insurance companies will be even close to prompt about the situation, if at all. most will not even coever you for things. in the end its just more of your money stolen due to dumb laws. i've been driving for 10 years and paid almost triple to my insurance company the worth of my car in the first place. does that make sense to anyone? what do you think?

what do you think about these? are they really necessary past a point? should they be done so often and the average citizen be forced to pay so much? once the car is yours and you buy the plates is it really necessary to re-register it every year? also for inspection, should that be optional? many states do not have it, others do. there is no noticable difference in accidents in either place, or any other statistic. what about recreational vehicles like ATV's? if a motorcycle has 2 wheels and is allowed, why not a bigger, safer version? what do you think about this?

my dad keeps telling me that there's this one-day driver's ed program somewhere outside of town. do these even exist? i've done some research, and [in louisiana] you have to go through a 36-hour class before obtaining a learner's permit. my dad says that not all places abide by this rule.

he only wants me to take this class because it costs about $30. the
36-hour class i'd prefer to take costs $300.

I got in a car accident in residential section at 3am this morning. I just called my insurance at 2pm and filed a police report over the phone. What are the chances of the police finding this guy who hit me? Will the police go to the location of the accident and invistigate the scene or look for witnesses or anything like that? What do the police actually do in the situation, is the police report basically just paper work that will get me no where?
