Do most insurance companies have a time limit after they pay a claim on a auto accident on when you have to have repairs done? I have a high deductable and am between jobs right now, so I am going to have to wait a while before I can pay my part of the repair bill.

My wife backed into my car and crushed in the door. This happened in our driveway. Now I know my insurance company won't require a police report in this instance. We both have had accidents within the last year, so I am going to get an estimate and see if we can afford to pay for it without turning it into our insurance, because we are afraid of cancellation or increase in premium. I was just wondering how long I've got to get the estimate done?

My dad is visiting me next month & bringing his car with him, He lives in Jersey which is where the car was bought & is registered. He is unsure however as to whether he can use his car during his stay with us, & if not what can he do to be able to use it, as he needs it to drive from the port to where I live.
Any advice or links to websites would be great.
Love Claire xx.

I live in Los Angeles and I am leaving the country for 6 month. Can I stop insurance of my car as no one will drive it? In case of theft how can I get it covered? Would the house insurance work in that case?

I'm going to be renting a vehicle from Thrifty car rental in Puerto Rico next week and I would like to just use my own insurance for the car. Does anyone know if Allstate covers driving in Puerto Rico? Thanks.

I got into a car accident in New York (I made a left turn and the other driver broke the red light and hit me because the road was icy and he had summer tires, but claimed that his light was yellow) and the fault is being disputed, as there were no witnesses. The other person's insurance company (Progress.) sent me a letter saying that it was my fault because I was distracted, when there is no supporting evidence what so ever (they didn't even talk to me). I didn't even ask them for anything, I just don't my insurance company to classify me as an increased risk driver as I am 18. I was wondering if I had the right to request a copy of their investigation, or if I have any other rights against them (or where I can find such information). Thanks

Lots of drivers do not have car insurance even though they are required to. If they are at fault for damages to you and your car, can you sue them for these damages?

I have been with State Farm for years. I let them withdraw from my checking account over $300 dollars every month for coverage I agreed to. Now that we had to use our comprehensive coverage due to vandalism, they decide to reduce my coverage!!! They take your money but when you make a claim they punish you. Now they take a whole $6 less a month for our insurance but gave me a $500 deductable because of severe hail damage to my one vehicle & because someone decided to pour paint solvent on my new '07 Yaris while I was at a basketball game watching my daughter cheer. Who is out there standing up for us little guys who is charged through the nose for services & then punished when we need to use it!!! Who is out there standing up for us little guys when gasoline is falling a barrel, but now for any reason the idiots charge $2.50 a gal. of gas! I think I'll through my hat in the ring & run for U.S. president. I would stand up for the little guy!!!

Okay this is my situation. My mom and I have a car, that is in my name alone. I do not drive the car because I simply don't have the money to pay for the high insurance costs. My mom paid for insurance in her name to drive the car. She was listed as an operator. They still put my name on it because the car was in my name. But I was not an operator. And so our costs were low of course. At the time, I had a permit. When I got my license, I input my name and info to add a driver online thinking I would get a quote for how much it was going, but it actually added me, and when I called the company telling them about the misunderstanding, they said they couldn't take my name off the policy as a driver because I have a license, and that the car is accesable to me because I do have a license(liability). Now the premium has gone up excessively. They said that I can't take my name off the policy unless I dont live at home, or give up my license. Is this truly the only options?
