Do most insurance companies have a time limit after they pay a claim on a auto accident on when you have to have repairs done? I have a high deductable and am between jobs right now, so I am going to have to wait a while before I can pay my part of the repair bill.

I should add the insurance check will be made out to the repair shop, so I will have to have it fixed. Also, I live in Mississippi and the insurance company is Southern Farm Bureau.

In Texas it is 10 days after the settlement (my dad just actually told me that about 2 mins ago)... but your lucky they'll even fix your car, mines a total loss, and it isn't even that bad, I guess airbags, a new radiator, and a new bumper and hood is just too much for Allstate to expense on my part.

But ask your insurance person, or call a diff agency and just ask them.

When I was in an accident last year (not my fault), I just took it to a shop the other driver's insurance company approved of, and the shop billed the insurance company.

I think that kind of answers your question.

hi,
if you got a check from your ins. co. they have already deducted your deductible. the check is yours, to fix your car or to do whatever you want with it.

it's your money to do with what you want, you don't even have to fix the car if you don't want to.
