will my insurance be cheaper when I do finally buy a car? SECOND QUESTION: What if my name is insured under my parents? Does that go towards my being an "experienced" driver, therefore helping to lower my insurance for when I get my own car?

My partner recently had an accident in a 2005 Toyota corolla (not at fault) and I want to know the likelihood of it being determined a 'total loss'. The insurance company has stated that it will be about 10k damage or more, the suspension was snapped and the wheel positioned at 45 degrees, the car nearly rolled and the motor has dropped on one side, transmission seems shot and lhside front quarterpanel looks like foil. Will it be a total loss ? do the Ins co take a recommendation from the repairer? can this be disputed? help would be appreciated.

A truck driver of a huge garbage truck fell asleep at the wheel and crushed my parked suv. Both insurance adjustors(mines and theirs) agreed that the suv is a total loss. The other party insurance company is paying out the book value of the suv but not what I still owe on the loan. They want me to pay for a car I no longer drive. NOT FAIR! How can I get the other insurance company to pay out the full amount of the loan? Do I have to sue for property damage? I have worked hard for two years paying on this suv. Is all of that money just gone? This happened in NY state.

Her car was fixed last week. How long does it take for her insurance company to bill me? Should I contact them, or just wait for the bill in the mail or a phone call from them.

Thanks

About a month ago I was in a car accident. My car was being rear ended by a Hummer. We didn't call the police and filed the report. Because I thought that they were going to pay for the repairs. But as it turned out, they denied and didn't want to accept the responsibility. So I may end up paying for the deductible and the rental cars. Is there anything I can do at this point? I do have a witness and have his phone numbers.

I was in an accident on 1/10/07 where a guy was changing into my lane, hit me and forced me into a curb. It was his fault but I was stupid and didnt call the police. The next day, he reported to his insurance company making a claim against me-he said it was my fault. So a week later their adjuster comes to look at the damages and its about $2500, whereas his car maybe has a few scratches. I filled out a report and mailed it in and two weeks later my witness who was driving behind me finally gets the report to fill out. So basically my car has been sitting in my driveway for about a month ever since the accident. The damages to my car clearly indicate it was his fault and i have a witness yet nothing has really happened. I just feel that this is taking too long and it is being drawn out for no reason. Is there anything i can do to speed up this process like making a report or something? Its not fair that he caused the accident, and is lying about it and i am the one suffering.

ex. I got a dui almost 5 years ago, will an insurance company look at my record from the past 5 years or longer? How many years from your dui do they hold it against you?

The other car was totally at fault and we didn't exchange information at the time of the accident. But the officer said that all of our info would be included in the report.

My 1996 Lexus ES 300 with over 200,000 miles was hit (not my fault) on the rear drive side tire well. I got an estimate for it, and it was approximately $2,900 before tear down. Seeing that my car may not last any much longer, how does one ask for a check for the damages to the car? My insurance is AAA.

This morning I got a ticket for rolling through a stop sign (though the officer wrote it as a 22450 (c) "Failure to stop at posted stop sign." He circled "infraction" and checked the "no" box on whether or not it was a correctable violation. Will there be a point on my license? Do I have any defenses when I appear in court? How much are tickets like these usually? Will my insurance go up?

I've relied on public transportation over the years to get around. Im 21 years old, just about to graduate college and Im terrified that Ill get a job offer at a place which is not train/bus friendly.

I never got a drivers license. I figured it'd be a good time to get started on that now, rather than months from now when I realize that I NEED a car.

I can go get a permit, wait 3 months and get a license. That's fine with me. My concern is insurance. Will I need insurance if I simply get the license? I honestly cant see myself owning a car anytime soon.. Maybe at most, id drive my parents car occasionally.

Whats the scoop? Also, I live in NJ. Excuse my ignorance on this subject, but its something I truly know nothing about.

Thanks!

I realise this most likely means an economic write off, but does anyone know my options should I wish to keep it. Will the ins co offer a figure to help me repair it? Is an economic write off car still insureable as long as the car is road safe? Thanks Sandy.

Because of the bad snowy weather we been having, I recently lower my car deductible from $1000 to $250 . My car just sliped today and hit a curve. I took it to have it checked, and the shop told me it would be around $3000 to get the car fix. Would my insurance company think that i lower my deductible after the incident happened? Would they cover the damage? Should i wait before trying to file the claim?
