just call and tell them you dont want to extend your contract after it runs out and tell them you have switched to another company.

Just be sure the new policy begins on the expiration date at 12:01 AM (that's midnight :01) Otherwise you could have a lapse...which has nothing to do w not canceling the old policy.

It's a common courtesy to provide written notice of your intent to non renew w your prior carrier

UK answer - If you were to cancel before your insurance expires you would be entitled to some money back if you have paid it all in advance. You would need to give some notice though so as yours expires fairly soon I wouldn't think you get much back!

Your new insurance company should write your policy beginning on the expiration date of your old one.

You need to cancel your old (pre-existing) insurance as soon as your new coverage takes effect. That way you don't have a lapse in coverage.

You have to give your old (pre-existing) insurance provider notice in as much as to call them and tell them you want to cancel (so that they'll stop billing you).

you just apply and set the date to when your car insurance expires. they will then send you a reminder anf you just decline it and go with your new policy

Why don't you just call them and find out. they might even offer you a massive discount in order to keep you.
