File the claim right away. Even if the accident happened 1 hour after you lowered your deductible, you should be covered. Didn't they take pictures of your car when you lowered it? I don't know if that's standard procedure or not...maybe they only do that when you buy a new insurance policy.
Anyway, the worst thing to do is be dishonest. Tell the exact truth and you should be ok.
Of course, this also depends on your insurance company. Hopefully they won't hassle you, but even if they do, they have no right to refuse your claim.

If you have a good relationship with your agent you shouldn't have any problems. Hopefully they made the change for you....and didn't "forget". Also, a claims adjuster can tell how old the damage is to a car....so as long as the damage did truly happen today you shouldn't have any trouble.
Why would you wait to file the claim? File it as soon as possible!
Be careful though - since you lost control and caused the damage yourself it will be considered an at-fault accident. You might want to think twice before filing a claim - especially if you have any other at-fault accidents within the last 3 years. It could skyrocket your rates or cause your insurance to cancel.
Remember, insurance fraud is a crime.
Good luck!

RE :I lower my car insurance deductible a week ago, would the insurance company accept my claim today?
Because of the bad snowy weather we been having, I recently lower my car deductible from $1000 to $250 . My car just sliped today and hit a curve. I took it to have it checked, and the shop told me it would be around $3000 to get the car fix. Would my insurance company think that i lower my deductible after the incident happened? Would they cover the damage? Should i wait before trying to file the claim?

You didn't terminate your policy, and you're paying additional premiums...your upgraded coverage should have been into effect the day you made the change. (Sounds like it's a good thing you did)...smart move on your part...you should have called for an accident report from the local police department, your insurance company will ask for that in any claim you file. That will show the date of the damage...and there will be no question as to...No, you absolutely should NOT wait to file the claim..do it right away!

Never wait before making a claim THAT makes it look suspicious. If they squawk then report them to your states insurance commission. You made the change and paid in time, so you should be covered.
You get what you pay for, when you lower your deductible your rates go up - they make more money because they are taking more risk. It is only right and legal that they pay.

Yes, Of Course, You only lowered the deductable you didn't cancel the insurance, but remember if the bill is 350.00 is it really worth getting the insurance Co. to anty up 50 bucks, since they will now have reason to up your premium.
But for 3K call 'em now!

The deductible change takes effect the moment you make the change on that phone call. Now, it will look suspicious that your accident happened right after a deductible change... so be ready for them to do an investigation. They will probably try to find proof of the date of loss... perhaps a police report.. tow bill.. etc. Be ready for this and understand that its because alot of insurance fraud happens nowadays. Once they do the investigation- you should be set.

Be prepared to prove the accident happened after you decreased the deductible. It is standard practice to put a freeze on claims for the first couple of weeks after an increase in coverage, but if you can prove it happened after the transaction, you have no problem. Good luck.

You were covered for that deductible the day you asked for it to be changed, no need to wait. No, they wouldnt think you lowered it after the accident happened. Go ahead and file the claim
