Theres 40000 miles on the clock and I've just spent £400 on new tyres and brake parts. it also has a sony 10 cd changer stereo in it (came with car). Damage is cracked bumper and dented bonnet so cosmetic only. Should I try to keep the car? Thanks for all your help so far, Sandy

£1650?????????????
You could probably repair it yourself for less than £100.
Look for a new bonnet in the car breakers, there's lots around, with a bit of luck you could even get one the right colour.
As for the bumper you could either get it welded, yes it can be done, or just fill it with 2 pack filler and spray it with spray cans.
Be honest, your car is not new or worth a fortune so the cheaper the repair the better. As long as it looks acceptable it should be OK.

If that is the only damage, you could source a replacement bumper from Ebay and a repair to a merely dented bonnet should only cost around £200-250. - Check out you local bodyshops for quotes. - I'd keep it and effect repairs at lower cost.

Sandy, only 40k on clock, ( is this genuine ) if so? keep the car. engine in good nick, you could do far worse if you got rid of it and finish up with a reps car newer model but high milage and thrashed to death.
