My car was broken into (back window was smashed) and an expensive new laptop was stolen. I have comprehensive auto insurance, and even the cops told me that auto insurance would cover it. However the insurance claims person says that only car and parts of car are covered. Is this something thats a given fact or is it just that i need to talk to argue with the insurance company?

In response to another question, someone here said that i may need to consult a lawyer and threaten to complainw with Better Business Bureau etc. Would that help? Does it matter whether this incident is called vandalism versus burglary (the car window was smashed into, there were witnesses, was a police report).

Any other ideas to help recover the costs? The value of the good stolen is around $3500...

My parents and I have been having an argument this week about car insurance, so I hope someone can answer my question.
I've had my learner's permit for three weeks, and I've been practicing mainly with my mom's car. Then, I heard from someone that learners need their own insurance. I asked my parents, and they said that since I'm driving their cars, I am covered as long as they sit next to me. At the same times, my friends are adamant that even the learner needs his own insurance. Who's right? And can someone please site sources so I can show my parents? Our insurer is Farmers Insurance.

our cars rego is ovedue but currently we don't have the money to pay for all the required stuff. Do you think it's possible to find a buyer for a car without rego which is in a good condition or should we get hold of some money and reregister it?

It's a 1984 Mitsubishi L300 express van, low mileage, everything running well, only filters need to be replaced.

so what's your opinion?

cheers

My wife wrecked her car into someones private property at 3AM.....she says a deer ran out in front of her and she swerved.......no one was hurt.....it caused about $3000 worth of damage to her car and about $500 worth of damage to the private property that she hit........it is now 14 hours later and we still have not notified either are insurance company, the property owner or the police of this accident......we can not afford to pay for this damage on are own and I know we must notify the property owner because it is the right thing to do....will our insurance company pay for the damage to our car and the private property?......will they be upset that it took us so long to report?......will are insurance premiums go up even though she has an excuse for having the accident?......have we broken the law by taking so long to report this accident?

I took a left onto a main road and got hit by a girl on my left fender. I see how this could be my fault because she had the right away but her license was suspened so she shouldn't have been driving. Is this true that her insurance company should pay for my car.

I bought a 2005 vehicle from a local dealer. I financed the purchase using a new-car loan from a third party lender (not the dealer or manufacturer). When I received the title, there was no lien holder listed. I have a contract with the lender and I am going honor that contract. However, I would like to pressure the dealer for consideration--perhaps like giving me an extended warrenty on the vehicle in exchange for letting the dealer off the hook with respect to the lien holder listing on the title--assuming the dealer is on a hook to begin with. Is this possible?

I recently had my car stolen. It's a very hard thing to deal with especially since it's a very expensive car. It was a Mercedes Benz S550 and I had spent a little over $95 thousand on it. I live in Los Angeles and the LAPD have told me that there are so many car thefts that it's almost impossible to find stolen cars. Insurance covers the cars cost but what's important to me is that inside the car I had some family pictures and some of mother and fathers personal belongings that I'd like returned... Is there any chance the thief is stupid enough to try and sell the car?

I got into a car accident May 2006. My insurance needs different information every time I call. Now they have everything and are waiting to process it all and waiting for past 5 year documents from my doctors. I have many claims and one already went to collections. My insurance hasnt paid not 1 claim yet and its already a new year. I am not giving up but the hospital is getting mad cause the bills are'nt being paid. Any advice to get my Insurance to hurry up and pay up cause I cant pay it myself. They keep giving me the run around probably hoping I"ll give up. Thanks

I bought a new car just before Christmas. It has a significant but intermittent fault. It's been back to the garage a few times but they claim they cannot find a fault, and that they are not prepared to spend a lot of time looking as they only get paid under the warranty if they find a fault.

What rights do I have? Any advice welcome.

on friday of last week, my daughter and i was hit by another car, totally his fault, my car was damaged, and my daughter and i are still suffering with whiplash, now i reported within an hour to my insurance company, the guy who did it still has not 6 days later, i was advised by my insurance to ring his and report it, but they cannot accept that, and would not even look into it, so i text him to do it, but he does not want to lose his no claims, now i have never had to make a claim does this mean if he does nothing i will have to loose my own no claim to get it repaired or pay for it myself, and why does no one from the insurance company give you a striaght answer, have any of you been through this and will it take months to sort out as thats the feeling i am getting,
