$85,000, are you kidding me, i hope you typed too many 0s. $8500 is a fair price, monteros are not worth much at all, they quit making them and there is a reason they quit making cars. if you didn't owe this much on it then take it!

$85000 is a great offer :-) I am sure your question was a typo but if you are getting around $8,500.00 that appear to be a fair deal also but it really depends on how your Montero Sport was equipped. I don't know what red book is but in my area we use NADA and Kelly Blue Book. Visit www.nada.com and www.kbb.com and take a look at your vehicle and see the values for your self. You will need to know if your vehicle is a 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive whether it's an ES, LS, XLS or Limited. Just because it say these figures on line it does not mean that your insurance company will grant that to you but it will give you an idea if you are being compensated fairly. I hope that this helps. Good luck,,,,,, Adub

I think you mean $8,500 because it's not worth $85,000 even with 84,000 miles.
ok the red book is base on what the net value of the car/suv/truck is worth today and is basicly the value of the suv with the miles and any updates or mods put on. some insurence companies tend to rip you off and give you less if you were the cause of the total loss.

This is the only and closest i found for a starting price for a mitsubishi montero sport. And this is a driveable and has been customized. others i've seen have been right around $8,500-10,500, with different miles.

2000 MITSUBISHI MONTERO SPORT XLT, full power, starting alarm, paint w/flames, wheels, tired, tint, windshield, $9500 obo

The lowest one i've found was:
2000 MITSUBISHI MONTERO SPort, 3.0 L, v6,2 WD automatic, silver, 95k miles, excel. condition, runs great, tinted glass roof, rack alloy wheels, compact disc (cd) player, air conditioning, dual front airbags, $6,500

So yes you should take the $$$ and buy a car or truck and NOT a p.o.s. misubishi.
