My boyfriend has a 1992 ford tempo that he's had for a year now. Starting in February of last winter it started to leak oil and didn't know where it was coming from. My boyfriends father, who has worked on cars, said that it was the rear main oil seal. It leaks the oil right from the middle bottom of the engine and travels down the underneath of the car, down the exhaust pipe etc. The tempo has the 2.3L HSC engine and there's an opening right underneath in the middle wear it comes out. It looks like that is where the seal is.

I've tried stop leak and it slows it down temporarily for a little while. But have to put oil in every two days. It smokes out the back real bad on the highway. Especially when the converter on the exhaust heats up and the oil runs down it.

Does anyone know if this would definently be the oil seal or something else on the engine causing the leak and what to do in the meantime to stop the smoking out the back until it gets fixed.

Engine Coolant level in Camry 03 is lower than "LOW" indicator level. Should I take it to the mechanic or top it off using etylene glycol based antifreeze from Prestone? Although the emperature pointer remains in the center while I drive the vehicle, I don't know if I can drive like this or have to top-off the level ASAP.

I am looking for a crew cab with a longer bed...do they even make those? Or does the 8ft bed only come with the smaller rear area seating with the one door that opens?

What model or when I am searching what am I looking for to get the longer bed..are those the XLT Version...is that was XLT stands for?

So basically looking for the largest crew cab I can find because I have three small kids and the longest bed because we are going to start working on our house and need it for hauling wood and the long moulding strips

The check engine light came on 3 times in our 99 Accord LX in the last month. First it was just the gas cap, then the evap canister and other parts were replaced and my mechanic thinks it's the PCM. This was his computer readout - code P1457. I then took it to the Honda dealer twice, once they said it was code P1457 but really P1456 (they replaced the evapconstant
shut valve and a new gas cap, although the car had a new after market gas cap) and a secondary code P0420 (catalytic converter below threshold), saying the catalytic converter needed replacing and the second time it was code P1457 - large evap leak - removed gas cap and reinstalled - system OK,
but still a secondary code P0420. I had the catalytic converter replaced by my local mechanic Monday and the check engine light came on again today (code P1457). AZ said it was the same code. All parts of the evap system have now been replaced. Where do I go from here? Is it the PCM?

my car broke down this evening, i thought it was the battery because it wont turn on and all it makes is a click sound, But the lights, the radio, and the power locks and windows work. Everything looks normal except i think the security light didnt used to flash before, and it does when i stick the key in and turn it. Mother says it could be the starter or maybe somebody tried to steal it, or even a bump from behind might have done it. i know my Old car had a killswitch that would prevent the car from starting if it got bumped, but i dont knwo if my New car has one. Its a Pontiac 2002 Grand Am SE. anybody have any ideas??

thanks for any suggestions

Question Details: Which would be more reliable? cheaper to maintain? easier to find parts for? Is either of these even worth considering as a good-weather-only daily driver?

Car starts fine in the morning, after about 2 to 3 minutes car runs very bad, check engine light comes on. It never stalls just sputters, spits like it running on 3 cylinders. After about 4 to 5 minutes of running bad the car starts running perfect. Check engine light stays on, sometimes it goes off during the day. Next morning same thing all over again. Took car to Autozone got a P1391 code (camshaft position sensor) replaced it twice still same problem. Anybody got any ideals? thanks inadvance.

Car overheats intermittently. Have done the following:
Jeep dealer replaced thermostat - Jeep dealer replaced resevoir, and cap, pressure tested, system tested good ($460). - I replaced water pump, I replaced fan clutch, I blead cooling system, Car will run at normal temp for 30 miles, then overheat. I've spent $600 so far and can't keep paying to replace parts without problem being fixed. IS NOT THE GAUGE, ENGINE GETS REALLY HOT. I posted this last week and received good suggestions but none resolved problem. Am I missing something? I can sometimes rev engine and engine will cool for a while. Thanks and please help. email: linuxskynyrd@yahoo.com

I own an audi A4 and recently took it to the shop. They charged me $300 to replace a pipe and that didn't even fix the problem. My car will be driving normal one minute and the next minute is starts slowing down while going 40 miles per hour. I have to tap on the gas to make it go again. Obviously it wasn't the stupid pipe they fixed and now they are telling me it's due to the brake light. Something about it short circuting the engine... Does anyone have a clue what this means and how much it should cost to fix. I think the dealership should fix it for free since they only made it worse and didn't even fix what I asked... please help
