I own an audi A4 and recently took it to the shop. They charged me $300 to replace a pipe and that didn't even fix the problem. My car will be driving normal one minute and the next minute is starts slowing down while going 40 miles per hour. I have to tap on the gas to make it go again. Obviously it wasn't the stupid pipe they fixed and now they are telling me it's due to the brake light. Something about it short circuting the engine... Does anyone have a clue what this means and how much it should cost to fix. I think the dealership should fix it for free since they only made it worse and didn't even fix what I asked... please help

sounds like a scam to me... unless your car automatically slows when you apply the brake. If that's the case, the brake light switch may need adjusted, or you have your foot on the pedal.

From what I get from note it sounds like your driving with the cruise control on and have to tap the gas to get it to go? That could be the brake light switch, but not a brake light. That switch is very common on that car. What pipe did they replace? Was it the air flow meter? Those also have been a problem. And could have been bad also but that does not mean it will fix all the problems

If you feel that what they did only made the car worse ask to talk to the service manager and explain to him/her about your situation. Have them explain why the replaced what ever the pipe is and why they did it. If your still not happy with the answers ask for the number to the Audi factory rep.

the brake light itself will not cause that problem. If you took it to the shop and they did something and it didn't fix the problem...then take it back...they did an unneccessary repair and didn't fix it...that's the bottom line. They are feeding you a line of you know what if they are saying that. Take it back...tell them to fix it...and they owe you the amount they charged you to "not fix the problem".

Take it back...stand your ground and tell them straight up.."the repair you made obviously was not the problem..so fix it this time and fix it right".

Also get the # to the manufacturer and call their complaint line...they will act on it trust me.

Hope this helps

trust me the brake light aint the problem, you are getting scammed, always ask for the old parts they put on,they are still yours.depending on the year its a good possibility it could be a tps problem, meaning throtlle possition sensor,if it is bad it will have a dead spot in the switch, call your audi dealer and see if it has one.
