I drive a 1996 Ford Explorer 4.0L. I'm looking to buy a K&N Cold Air Intake and a Flowmaster exhaust. I'll have them both eventually, but what should I buy first?

Or is it really just opinion?
I'm getting ready to buy my own car and the most I want to spend is $6000 so I was thinking about a 2 door Explorer with less than 100,000 miles.

So what are your personal experiences with Ford?
Not just opinion but actual fact or experience.

I looked on the auto zone website for a distributor cap and rotor.
I have my choice between duralast (brandname), and beck arnley (brand name).beck arnley is considerably more expensive.

Duralast rotor -2.99, rotor cap 9.99 (+ or -)
beck arnley rotor -9.99, rotor cap 18.00

My truck is a "bone stock" service (I am an electrician) truck.I

There cannot be that big of a difference in the two rotors/caps.

what would you (all) recommend I do?

My friend suggestted that it might not be wise, because when I get another car in 5 months they will charge me more for insurance if I was not insured for a long period of time. His logic was that it's a red flag to insurance co. They think you were driving without insurance or totaled your car. Even though my car just died on it's own.

I started the truck and pulled out of the driveway 3 feet and it just died! Now sometimes it will start and sometimes it won't. What could be the problem? I just put a new fuel pump in!

Every 2 years I need to get my car smogged. Each time I get my cars engine timed it passes smog.

I would like to know what causes the engine to get out of timing to begin with and does it has anything at all to do with the distributor and points ? Thank you so much

I have a SWR meter for my cb radio. To be honest I'm not exactly sure how to use it, my dad just gave it to me, no instrunctions or antyhing. it has the meter, a switch for forwar and reverse(whatever that does), a calabrator knob, and an antenna in and cb out. How am I suppose to use this to calibrate my radio? My radio has a SWR meter built into the radio. I have calibrated it and it works fine. I'm running about 1:1 to !:7. it is a uniden pc78Elite. It also has a meter for recieving and sending built into my radio. Also I have an antenna light that turns on red when my vehicle is in motion but my calabrating remains the same? Why is that? My main question was is that when I connect the external SWR meter my radio will not send or receive above 3 puonds. Why is this? I hope im not too confusing. Im trying to use the little space I have for this question as best as I can. Thank You for your time.

Mechanic says that I should replace my hood because of the hood scoop which is hindering my power due to freezing my carburator. I find this weird since my problem has been happening during the summer. Is it possible that this can happen during any season?

I have been told this is very easy to install. I have purchased the OEM sensor with the plug in tip, so no wiring needed. I need to do this to pass an emissions test and update my registration. A step by step guide would be incredibley useful.

It may sound daft, but I am finding it increasingly difficult to cope with my daily commute to work, purely down to the state of the driving I encounter where I have to drive (Hull). Some days it seems like nobody in Hull should have ever passed their test, and the amount of mickey-taking, being cut up, tail gated and generally harrassed is just unbelievable. I'm not purporting to be the world's best driver but I'm sure I take more care and consideration than the rest of them in this city combined. It's just really starting to stress me out and I know I shouldn't react, but I just can't help it. Does anyone know any good coping strategies because I really just feel like I don't want to drive to work anymore, but unfortunatley public transport isn't really an option to get to my destination. I just need to know how to stop these lunatics bothering me!

I bought a car on 10/7/07 in CA , checked out its Carfax.com report after the fact (I know, I know, should have done this beforehand) and discovered it was in an accident in NY. Title is clean. Dealer never disclosed accident but did offer me a "cooling off" contract for 48 hours for $800 ($300 policy + $500 restocking fee). He also characterized it as a waste of money ("expensive car rental" were the exact words). Do I have a right to return it since they did not disclose information about its history that was public?

Has anyone had this problem before; a small amount of water got on the armrest, so I sponged it with a tissue lightly, and the leather just started peeling off.

Once the water was dry, I then got the leather treatment and dabbed a bit on and massged gently with a cloth and the same thing happened.

Its revealved a darker leather underneath - what is the 'top coating' of the arm rest that I have peeled off??? Is it repairable??
