I would go back to the garrage where you got you Punto From as they are supposed to have given you working keys!
if they do not help, it will cost about £80 to £90 depending where you go.
I had the same problem when I got my Fiat in 2003, but as I bourght it from Fiat they did it for free, but they did tell me that as they have to ship the keys out from Italy the normal price then was £70 per key. (I got my car at ancaster fiat: www.ancaster.co.uk
Their phone number is 020 8695 2500) (that is usful if you live in London, but you could still call them to find out the up-to-date price!)

I hope that I have helped.

If the key is a proper Fiat key with transponder, and it fits and turns in the locks/ignition, you do not need a new key. You just need to get the car's immobiliser programmed to recognise the transponder in the key.
It could be an original key that has not been used since the car was new, and the car has "dropped" (forgotten) the transponder code.

Go back to the dealer and insist they check or operate the key. If this does not work, demand a new key be ordered there and then. The key is expensive so do not get ripped off.
