The only possible effects are a slight decrease in gas mileage (most likely not noticeable unless you keep excellent records), and a slightly smaller bank balance (along the lines of 10 cents or so per gallon that you purchased).
In other words, nothing bad will happen!!

Nothing bad
The extra octane is needed in higher compression engines to prevent detonation but higher octane has no effect on low compression engines.
99% of the cars on the road have what are considered low compression engines, 9 to 1 compression ratior less.
All you did was waste a little bit of money on extra octane that you didn't need.

this will not hurt your car -- -- no problem ... you seem concerned and it sounds to me that your normal action is to follow the manufacture suggested details and that is always best ... the deal is that these cars of today are built to do just what the OEM says ... unleaded is for low compression engines and the high test fuel is for high compression and racing motors

Will hurt absolutely nothing. If you had put regular in a car that needs middle or premium, that would be a problem.
Have a great day.

THE ONLY THING THAT WILL HAPPEN IS THAT THE FUEL WILL BURN CLEANER, IT WILL CLEAN THE VALVES AND YOU WILL GET BETTER GAS MILEAGE.
