Just check Amtrak's website, right from the homepage you can chose the most convenient station and train(s). I am not sure but I believe Amtrak has a direct connection to Pitt and NYC.

Amtrak 43 runs between NY and Pittsburg, departs Penn Station at 10:50 a.m. and arrives in Pittsburg around 8 p.m.

Check Amtrak. They'll have something.
You should also check Greyhound. They'll take longer, but it will probably be cheaper.
This probably sounds like a bad idea, but check out flights. My dad had to go to Pittsburgh yesterday; I thought he would be taking US Airways, but he took JetBlue because he said they were cheaper. There might be a sale or something for this route.
Good luck!
