Mechanic says that I should replace my hood because of the hood scoop which is hindering my power due to freezing my carburator. I find this weird since my problem has been happening during the summer. Is it possible that this can happen during any season?

I would find another mechanic. The only negative thing it may do is hinder the linkage if the opening in the hood is too small and the carb is hitting something when the hood is closed.

Someguy; maximum hoods you purchase as we communicate look sturdy, yet are no longer fairly smart. listed under are aero data for warm rodding: maximum hoods are cover Induction. simply by fact of this the air intake is taken from the rear of the hood or the backside of the windshield. this could properly be a low stress section at any velocity. The hood desires an beginning to attraction to air from this section. Ram Air is frontal air intake. even nonetheless in a Ram air subject, the intake manifold desires replace to dodge air turbulence while the air enters the manifold. I even have made my own hoods for the final 40 years. many times I take a production facility hood and adjust it. i exploit steel to steel, with lead (Solder). This paintings is long gone for physique techs of as we communicate except you're taking it to a real warm rod restorer. web pages won't many times aid you recognize the actuality, they only desire to sell a factor.

OH MY GOD! Dude you need a new mechanic! no matter were your at in the U.S. your not gonna freeze a carb. You gotta be at the south pole to freeze gasoline. Besides the colder the air and fuel is the more power you get.
