I just recently got a BMW 3 series 2002. It is a two door and is cute and nice but I feel very impractical in it and am nervous driving it because I feel like I am an ant driving around in it compared to my Honda Accord I used to have. I am considering selling it and getting a cheaper Honda Passport which I drove and really liked. This would be a cash purchase and would free me of my car payment. Although, I will likely loose 2000-3000 on the BMW just from driving it off the lot. Is that crazy or practical? I think I am driving my husband nuts.

My gf's son was in an accident last Saturday; not his fault. Other driver pulled out in front of him and police have assigned full liability to that driver. His truck is a 86 Nissan D21 pickup and the damage is pretty bad. Estimate so far is about $3800 to fix and www.kbb.com lists this vehicle's value at $2100 (actually had to use an 87 to compare; they don't have older). Clearly the insurance is going to total the vehicle.

Yesterday we finally got the rental car (son is driving her car). Today the insurance company is telling her that she can only have the car till Saturday.

I'm thinking she keeps the car until the matter is resolved. That is, she has a check in hand for the market value of the vehicle or it is fixed.

Secondly: the check won't cover fixing the vehicle yet it's a great little truck and worth fixing. Engine appears to be fine as does the chassis. Can we sue the driver for the difference between the settlement and the repair?

I have an 1984 70hp evinrude. Motor starts up,idles, revs up good in neutral. When I shift nto forward and excelerate motor runs poorly and eventually dies. I can put it back in neutral and it will start up just fine. This happened with the motor warmed up. Ran well going out on the lake. Did not run the motor hard. Just cruising around with the kids. It seems to also run when shifted into reverse. I did not run it to much in reverse. because, I finally got it close to the dock. I did not want to get stuck to far out. This was our first time out with this motor. Prior to this situation the motor was claimed to be in good working order. And appears to have been maintained. The motor started up fine when cold. Also idles well. Gas is fresh. Oil is not pre-mixed but comes from a resevoir. I have not checked any fluids yet.

kelly blue book is what they use, but do they use "suggested retail", "trade in", or "private party" value?
and how do you determine what condition it's in? is that the condition it was in BEFORE the accident?
thanks!

So if I buy a used car (private party) from Ohio, but live in PA, do I pay the registration taxes to Ohio or PA? If so, how much is it to the state accordingly?

I brought my car in for an oil change because the change engine oil light was on. After getting it "fixed" by the mechanic the light remained on. When I asked them why this was they said they simply forgot to turn the light back off. Are they lying to my face? Wouldn't the light go off once the oil got changed? Anybody else have this problem.

Looking to buy a used car. $7K-$8K is my range. Just looking for something dependable, okay on gas, & will get me to work everyday. I probably avg 12K miles a year

Everyone rates Hondas & Toyotas very high, but for $7K-$8K, the cars Im finding are 99-02 with 90-100+ miles

Consumer reports also has the 03-05 Hyundai Elantra & Sonata, 04-05 Dodge Neon, the 02 Taurus, 04-05 Ford Focus scoring high reliablity ratings. Online, Im finding those cars with 50-60K miles in my price range.

In your guys' opinoins, which is a better bet for my money? the older higher milage Hondas/Toyotas or the newer lower milage other models.

Thanks in advance!

S My car has a coolant problem!?
i have a 1994 olds cutlass. For the past 2 months it will say coolant level low, but i go fill it and it only adds a little if needed. The light for low collant level comes and goes as i am driving it, everyday. Today driving home, my check engine light came on and notice my car was overheating and the low coolant light was on. Then when i drove on , the temp dropped fast and went back to normal. Could it be the thermostat is bad, or maybe something is in the radiator blocking some flow? .........................................

now i am flushing the radiator now, while it was running noticed fan did not come on? but temp was normal while running? Is it supose to be running?

Let's say my uncle has a car which is insured under his name. He let me drive occasionally to here and there, but my name is not on his insurance. I am just wondering what would be the conseqence if I get caught by police (eg. speeding) and police found out that my name is not on the insurance. Thank you for your time.

The Bone colored paint on my steering wheel is badly fading and I would like some advice on maybe some touchup paint or high quality steering wheel cover. Does anyone know of a website or brick & mortar with high quality steering wheel covers? Can I spray paint the steering wheel? In regards to a steering wheel cover, does anyone know if there are silicone steering wheels available anywhere (sort of like the silicone used for Ipod cases)? I'm willing to pay a high price to keep my car interior looking pristine! Also, my gearshift knob is experiencing this same fading so any help would be great, thanks.

I have a 98 Intrepid that has less than 40k miles. sinve I've had the car, I've had 7 new batteris put in. The radio is urned off, no interior or trunk light is on. Two different mechanics tested the alternator and that is fine. The stater is also good.

The battery is locaed in the passenger side wheel well, so there are 2 cable that are attached to the battery comin up and case it needs to be jumped. I have no idea where the battery losin power or what could be drawing from it. I also HIGHLY doubt, I could have gotten 7 bad batteries in a row.

Can anyone help?

It's been a long time since I had a drivers license - didn't renew it from moving to NYC over 15 years ago. Now I need a license as I spend a lot of time outside of the city. I'd love to know if I can get my license in upstate NY and still have it registered with my NYC address. I think it would be easier than having to deal with the NYC DMV. I'd appreciate any and all insights. Thanks in advance. - TS
