To make a 4 wheeler fuel efficient, keep tyre pressure as recommended. Do not drive in crowded place. Keep air filter clean. With airconditioner on keep all windows properly closed.

Ok,this is a tricky game of patience ,
1.U gotta change gears at exactly these speeds:
1st gear: 0-10(not more than that)
2nd gear: 10-20(exceed only if ur overtaking)
3rd gear: 20-30(exceed only if ur overtaking)
4th gear: 30-40(exceed only if ur overtaking)
5th gear: for 50+
-Try staying in the range of 40-60 in the 5th gear and u will save fuel in leaps and bounds, for every 10 kms above 60 u lose almost 8-10% on the fuel efficiency.
-Keep air filters clean(if possible buy them from K&N)
-don't accelerate and brake suddenly ,u know like spend some 5 or 10 minutes extra on the road and save some fuel.
If you want to save some more then don't switch on the AC immediately.first get the car moving to say of speeds around 30 kms and then start the AC.This helps a lot on fuel efficiency.

Drive to speeds of about 50 to 60 kms. Shift to the highest gear quickly. Maintain the car properly by following the service schedule. Check tyre pressures regularly.

if you're a true off road enthusiast, then you have over sized tires and wheels..., run the stock ones when you're not off roading..., unsprung weight is a killer for mpg. Change back to oversize wheels when the time arises.
