You don't say if you are buying new or used so I assume you are buying new. All of the SUV's and pick-up trucks available today are good. Proper maintenance and lack of abuse is all that is needed to stand the test of time. Other things to consider are resale value, part availability, cost and features. The most common models will, naturally, have the most available after market customizing parts, too.

God Bless you...

SUV--Go with the one that started it all--Suburban. Nothing beats it for ride quality, stability, reliability, and durability, fuel economy for size...Just hands down the top of the line.

Truck--Hard to top the Motor Trend Truck of the YEAR--Chevy Silverado. Smooth ride, great performance, reliablity, payload capacity--whether you want a half ton or 3/4 ton, gas or diesel...I dare you to find a better combination of ride quality, fit and finish, payload, and creature comforts. Some may have more payload--but they ride like a lumber wagon. some may have more horsepower--but they get worse mileage. Some may have more creature comforts--but they are not a serious truck. The TOTAL PACKAGE is the 2007 Silverado.

07 Dodge Durango's has $ 4,500 total rebate money and the 07 Dodge Ram 1500 has $ 6,000. Both have the 36mo./36,000 mile full warranty and life time drive train. For the money, both are superior vehicles to what anyone else has out right now.
