I see in the paper the cars from $500 and it says they are police impond cars. Is this is a scam are has any one actually bought a car this way? especially if any one has ever done it in California let me know.

My partner was reversing his car out of our drive on sunday thre was a car parked half on the pavement opposite our drive and my partner reversed and hit it .There wasnt alot of damage apart from a broken wing mirror some scraped paint and a small dent .We said we would deal with it privatly as the owner worked for a garage he came back with a quote for £840 which i think is taking the piss as the car is 11 years old and is worth £640 if we go though insurance who is at fault is it my partner for hitting him or the other car for being parked illegally

I was not given a manual/handbook and some controls on the dash are different like two heated windscreens? and can i only open the boot using the key as i cannot find anywhere in the car to open it?

Like it's always been like that, since the past or 50s,60s, 70s, and so on. Like American manufacturers want there cars to look European or Japanese. Like what ever happened to good old American cars that had aesthetics and glamor, and now American cars look cheap and have boring looks just like any other car on the streets today. I like the cars of the 1950s and 1960s because they represented Americana, like they had looks, performance, comfort, Safety, handling, and reliability. so those were the good years, So wish American cars could go back to there glamor just like the past. So what do you think?

I have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer with a stock stereo system (1 CD player, no cassette player). Today, I put a CD in and I now have no control over it. The only controls which work are the power and volume. Any time I push any other button, there is a light which flashes saying "TRAF". I've tried pushing the button labeled "TRAF" and that didn't help. I checked the owner's manual and it didn't say anything.

I have a 96 chevy / geo prism. Front wheel drive, 4 cyl, 5 speed manual.
About 6 months ago, I let a friend, who owed me money replace the clutch. He did a piss poor job, and I had to take it to a mechanic. The mechanic told me that there were several bolts missing from the transmission and the motor mounts. He replaced the bolts, but it still had a rattle when sitting still out of gear. The rattle stops when the clutch is pressed.

Now I have lost all ability to smoothly take off in first and reverse. No matter how slow I let out on the clutch, or how low the RPM when I let out on the clutch, the whole front end jumps and shakes violently like it would if you popped the clutch without giving it gas. It dosen't go dead, but I expect to find parts on the ground after every launch.
Do I need a new clutch? a new car?
What causes this, and how do I fix it?

Am I looking at a rebuild or just a negligable amount of wear as Ford's F150 gears tear it to shreds? Im worried about it melting and gumming something up more than chipping any metal and am not confident that the transmission oil filter will be of any use.

Hi there!
I'm in CA ,and just buy a used car from a private seller ($4500) and am going to transfer the title in coming days, should I ask seller to put the amount in $0 ? or in a low price?

Should seller go to DMV with me, or just write a letter that indicate that car is a gift for me?

the seller is one of my friend, and she can/will help me if DMV or someone want to ask for the truth...

The seller is going to leave US to another country, can she just use this reason and give me the car as a gift?

I have read lots about this on the internet, and it seems that mostly everyone is warning about extremely high maintenance costs. Some people say they are averaging $2000USD a year if not more. Is this true? Does a 98 328is truly require you to spend so much on routine maintenance? All help appreciated.

I've had a couple of instances over the past month where my 1998 Honda Accord LX 4cylinder automatic shut down completely (while sitting at a redlight for instance). I would crank it back up and drive away like nothing happened. I'm driving today and it actually shut down twice while I'm doing 75 on the freeway. It did immediately regain itsself both times without me having to pull over (much like a speed chip would do). Then a few miles up the road I begin to smell that something is burning. Then I actually see smoke rising slowly from my steering column. Engine temp is fine. I immediately pulled over, turn the car off, let it cool down, then finished the rest of my trip a few miles up the road no problem. What is causing this? Other facts that may be factors; my car also makes a rattle when accelerating as if there may be a problem with the exhaust system. I have a slow oil leak. I just changed the oil. I just hit 150,000 miles.
