Try a Subaru WRX; it's just about at the price you're looking to spend and it is a blast to drive, economical, stylish and FAST!!! Since it's an AWD, it'll go just about anywhere and is very roadworthy (handling is excellent). See Motor Trend, last month's issue for a complete road test and impressions.
