I see in the paper the cars from $500 and it says they are police impond cars. Is this is a scam are has any one actually bought a car this way? especially if any one has ever done it in California let me know.

Darlin'.....yes this is real. I got a 2003 Exploer and it was sweet...only problem was that I had to fix the intereior. They had ripped apart on a raid.

Yes. I have purchased 40 or 50 cars from wrecker companies. I don't know for sure about CA, but I believe the impound (towing yard) must do the paperwork for the sale. Then all you have to do is take it to the title agent and get it registered in your name. The TV ads are bogus, so look in the newspaper for impound auctions, they usually have them at the towing places once a month. Good Luck.

I can tell you that I read a news article a couple of years ago about a family that bought a large SUV in one of those auctions, like a GMC Suburban and later on when they tried to cross the border with it they found out the fenders were full of cocaine. I swear, true story. Luckily the people were able to prove the circumstances of how they came to buy that truck and were eventually not charged with any crime.

If the bidding stops at whatever, Maybe $100. thats what you pay Before you buy a car like this have it looked over by a very sharp machanic !!!!!!!!!!

You will not be informed of this by the police, or by those sold by the IRS.
