I have a DEH-P860MP Pioneer premier deck and There is a switch on the side for NW and STD. The manual states it's for NW and DSP. What is the difference and what do they do?

The manual says NW is 3-way network and STD is Standard.

DSP = Digital signal processor (processing)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_signal_processor

NW = Network Mode
(as opposed to STD = Standard Mode)

From the Pioneer Manual:
"The 3-way network mode (NW) lets you create a 3-way multi-amp, multi-speaker system with separate speakers for reproduction of high, middle and low frequencies (bands), each driven by a dedicated power amp. The 3-way network mode provides network and time alignment functions, two functions essential for a multi-amp, multi-speaker system, to enable precise control over settings for each frequency range."

I dont have any models to recommend, they change too fast to keep up anyway, for longevity and durability and good sound, I found the pioneer supertuner to be pretty good stuff, sony has good equipment as well, I really like the pioneer speakers better than any other 4 way on the market, I would go to different stereo stores, and find a deck I liked in one of those rooms set up with push buttons for different stereos, and not look to see which speaker, just listen to the sound of the music as it changed, and always like pioneer sound the best.
