I'm looking for a good family car, with great gas mpg, something with a low insurance rate, Something nice and that I will enjoy for a long time??????????? PLEASE HELP ME... OPINIONS ARE VERY WELCOME... Which do you all prefer... The prices I've found around here are about $16,000 for the focus, and about $19,000 for the Fusion...

I've read several posts on this. I find it strange what the logic is . They never had a car before . I think all should get a beater (A nice older car). if they take care of it . Then help them with a newer used car purchase.

At 16 I would have been happy to drive any thing . With college costs ,get them the $3000 special you can get 4-6+ of them for price of new car and save on insurance.
Don't give me a reliability thing . I buy cars for work with 60000 miles and run them till 120000 or so with no major problems.
Any car from 95 and newer is a safe ride ,Air bags ETC.

Its just a status thing.

I am working on a 1969 camaro for a customer of mine. The engine is a brand new rebuilt (by somebody else) 350 V8 with HEI ignition, MSD supercoil, large cam, Trick Flow aluminum heads, demon carborator, roller rocker and roller lifters. We have checked the timing, rebuilt the carborator, changed the spark plugs because they were fouled out, adjusted the valves, and tomorrow we will be changing the oil because it is very saturated with gasoline. The car idles great but at high RPMs loses power and consistantly backfires out the exhaust. The backfiring is not one big bang, but a timed series of low pops as if it is even with the ignition. I believe this has something to do with the valves or the cam not being broken in correctly. Everything on this engine is brand new and we did a compression test and the numbers came out 150 or higher. What do we do next? Thanks.

I need to find out so i can have the engine run smoother and better. The carb is always getting kinda junky and i put regular fuel in it. So what should I do? Will the cleaner called "Outlaw" clean out my system?

My 95 eclipse won't hold a charge. It use to run fine for a few days after getting jumped. It died. So today. I got it jumped by my dad. And it wouldn't hold a charge at all. As soon as we took it off it'd die. Or 5 minutes later, it'd die. I've taken it to Autozone. Battery alone and they said battery was good. They recharged it. When I brought my car out, they said alternator was fine, battery sucked. Then I took it to a mechanic who said it as my alternator. The coolant lights and brake lights come on and when i rev, they shut off. I don't want to spend $150 to get the alternator replaced when its the battery. Thanks

I've got a '93 Mercury Cougar and it seems to want to stall a lot. The first time it happened, I was at a stop light, and the lights i had to wait for before it, it seemed the car hesitated when i pushed on the gas pedal. At the stop light, it just stopped completely, the engine light came on, and i was able to slowly pull to the side of the road with everyone honking their horns behind me. Now, i continue to worry it will happen again as it has already happened once after that while i was going slowly in reverse in my driveway. I now don't completely stop when i go to a stop light, but slow a lot down so i can hope it turns green. My friend told me something like this happened to him and it was carbon getting stuck in his EGR valve. Does anyone know if this could be the simple problem, or is it something else?

I only drove it down the road when it happened but it was raining out so I am unsure if that had something to do with it. The Jeep is only 2 years old and had its 30,000 mile check up last month. I am concerned that something serious happened to it. Any advice would be well appreciated.

i have a couple of spots on my car,the clear coat is coming off,and i dont want to repaint the whole car,just doctor it up some.what do you recommend for me to do about this?,should i just sand it down and touch it up with spray paint,or what? thanks.

The power door locks and power seat stopped working. The power windows can be controlled from the driver door only. ALL 3 STOPPED WORKING AT THE SAME TIME. I have checked the fuses under the dash and the main fuses under the hood and all are ok. Anyone have any ideas on what would be the common cause between the 3 problems? Please help. TIA.

A dove flew right into the front window to my car on the freeway while I was driving 65. I feel so horrible. It was trying to get its wing up to fly away and it just couldn't and it hit my windshield. I couldn't do anything. I feel so sad and guilty. I looked in my rear view mirror and it was still trying to fly up words threw traffic.

every single car i tried, it always happen. for example:, i take a car (like the charger, econline, maxima, etc) and drive it as fast as i can ( by pressing pedal hard) around the niegborhood, for about 20 - 30 minutes. once i reached home, i take a hose and spray water on the front wheels . alot of smoke comes out. why does this happen
