If you're talking about thee square box looking ones with the window on top, just look right in the center to check if the metal piece isn't melted in half, a good fuse will have one metal piece going from one side to the other, no need to take it out.

Also check the rheostat that controls the brightness of the lights.

The only good way to check is to get a multimeter or ohm meter and measure the resistance between the two leads. If you don't have a meter, then you can pull another fuse with the same rating and swap it out. If you do and the circuit works then the orginial fuse is bad. If the circuit works for a second or two and quits then the fuse is bad and there is a problem with the circuit and needs to be fixed. good luck.

You can measure across them if you have a multimeter. There are tiny holes on the top that the point of a lead will fit into. You can also just look at them, if your eyes are good. Mine arent anymore. You can see a silver line across the top that should go from one of the mentioned little holes to the other. If the fuse is bad, you will notice a break and or discoloration. Let me know if you need help from here.

Just pull each fuse out 1 at a time. There will be like a pieace of metal in the shape of an m inside the plastic. If it is broken replace it.

if you have a test light clamp it to the negative terminal on your battery and then touch the fuse with the tip of the pen, if the light comes on the the fuse is good

use a cheap ohm meter to check the continuity . A fuse can appear to be fine and still not work

look at each fuse, there is a little wire inside of each one,and if its burnt into, then it is bad and needs replaced.

you actually have to take the fuses out and look at them. if they are blackish in color then that means that they are burnt and need to be replaced.
