If you can only have one, a car is more practical but less fun. Also lots larger footprint on the planet due to mpg and resources used to make cars. If you have to routinely dress up or haul more than one other person or lots of stuff, car or truck may be necessary.
Bikes are more fuel efficient (except for some econo-boxes), more fun to drive unless it is pouring rain or snowing, and cheaper to own/operate.
If you go the bike route, take your state's motorcycle safety course and ride defensively/conservatively. Also aim to ride as much as possible as soon as possible to build skills and confidence.

motorcycles are fun and affordable in gas but they provide less protection than gas and you cannot use them when it rains, snows, or is very cold. In other words, motorcycles may only serve you 1/3 of the year.

A motorcycle beats a car any day, anytime, anywhere and a Harley-Davidson or chopper is better yet.

Depends on the demands of your lifestyle, and your desire for excitement vs. comfort. If you prefer to live closer to "the edge", get the bike. If you plan to do the family, 3 kids and a dog thing, go with a car.....
