I own a 2007 V6 Fusion SEL and highly recommend it. It's one of the best cars Ford has made in quite a while. I've heard the 4 cylinder version is a bit noisy, but that the engine delivers good power.

The fit and finish are simply outstanding. In 2 months of ownership I have found zero defects. No weird gaps between parts, everything works perfectly. It's a very fun car to drive. It's very roomy for a mid-sized car, both front and back. Very roomy trunk too.

It's quite an attractive car. My Merlot Red Fusion has drawn several interested stares when it's all cleaned up and looking nice.

Consumer Reports agrees. Their April 2007 Auto issue gives the Ford Fusion top marks in safety and predicted reliability, and also gives it their top buy recommendation.

Recommend you buy the 2007, not the 2006. The 2007 made important safety improvements.

the fusion is a much better car. Consumer report is very positive so far and they are impressed about how few problems was found since it was introduced.

The fit and finish is easily compared to japanese cars.

THe interior design is also very nice and its very quiet.

If you buy the 4cyl manual, the fuel economy is quite good.

the focus is not a bad car but it not as comfortable, doesn't look as good, the fit and finish in average and I found it quite noisy. Heard a lot of the engine and wind.

The Fusion is a very good choice right now for someone who wants a great american product.

A few thoughts about this.

Focus is one of the worst ever rated cars. Do NOT BUY THAT LEMON!

If the only two cars in the world were the Focus and Fusion, I would take the Fusion hands down, but if you want the best car ever made for all of what you are looking for (not the best MPG but not bad) you want a Honda Accord. I have had 3. Two have had over 300,000 miles when I sold them, and my last one had 200,000 when I gave it to my parents as a gift, and it is one of the best cars they have ever had (200,000K and the only non-typical maintenance was the A/C, and does not use a drop of oil.)
