Cars & Transportation - 6 May 2007

I'll be moving soon and won't have a car for a while. My husbands job takes him all around the East coast so I just have to pick a place to settle in. He does a lot of New Jersey (Parsippany) and New York work and goes down into Richmond, Baltimore and such. I love Boston too so I'm just trying to get a feel for what area is going to have the best public transportation so that I can get to a from work and/or school best.

Is it worth to buy a car audio from comp like SONY, PANASONIC etc or some chinese brand will do??? if for a examp I buy for 200 $ sony and there will for 130$ chinese one or not that well known brand but the features are pretty much the same???

I just bought a car and the seller said it has a remote starter but he doesn't know how to work it. It has a Code Alarm CA-425 remote system with a CA-145 remote. I only know how to lock and unlock the doors with the remote.

my good neighbour lives 100yds across the road - and everytime he gets into his car with his electronic key - my doorbell rings!!

it looks like i am a nosey neighbour looking out of the window when he goes out...its so funny - but why does this happen?? - can we stop it any way?

I've bought a car from garage. I realised some fault before I paid the money, but was assured it was on because of the oil change and it would go away in a moment (wich has never happened) I took car back to the garage for repairs. Garage took car to the main dealer and told me it could take couple more days to road test a car. It was 10 days ago. Garage is 150 miles away and I've got to take day off to go there and back. The bloke I usualy speak to always keep promising what never happens. Also I was told that I won't get any refund.

i didn't realize it, but my driver's license has been expired for a year and now i don't know if it is too late to get it renewed. if i go to the dmv will they make me pay a fine? or will i have to take my driver's test and/or permit test again? what do i do?

ok say i barely got a car about three months ago and it cost me about 20000 and i want to trade it in for a car that is of a cost of about 25000. they wont give the the 20000 will they? do i pay the difference? i dont know someone help me please. :)

I always wanted my cars to be either black or silver grey. But with the classic beetle (presently maroon-colored), for the 'fun and unpretentious' car that it is, I would like to make a survey on what color should a fun car (like the beetle) be. I was gonna scooter but my parents won't let me. I don't want to go against them so don't post any answers telling me to do that. I considered parkour(free running) but i will lug a heavy backpack around, and cannot ride a bus because its not a flexible form of transportation. Any suggestions as to waht I can do?

Hyundai has a new car coming out in 2008 that is supposed to be in the same league as the GS series Lexus and the G or M series Infiniti. A V-8, 6 speed auto, rear wheel drive luxury sports sedan.

I know they had problems early on, but I'm wondering if those of you with NEWER Hyundai's would share your experience?

I'm considering buying a Hyundai and I REALLY like this new concept sports sedan, the Hyundai Concept Genesis. It's supposed to for around $30,000 . .

If you own a NEWER Hyundai (any model newer than say 2002 or 2003), my question for you is:

Would you buy another Hyundai?
Why? Is it the price?, the value for the money? the quality?Any problems NOT resolved by the dealer?

If you WOULDN'T buy another Hyundai:
why not? is it the dealer service? just a crappy car? What year is yours, and what model

I have a '99.. Sometimes when i try to start it, it won't start. it maks a loud annoying noise! Some times it'll do it once, but other times it takes forever to start! I've been told to get a new starter, but I'm afraid it would still do it.. and that's a lot of money. Does this happen to anyone else, or do you have any tips? Thanks.

my car recently died because i left the stereo on too long. it wouldnt start by just turning the key but when i turned the key and gave it some gas it would start up and stay started as long as i was giving it a little gas. as soon as i let off the gas it would die again. once i jumped it, it stayed on. what causes it to turn off when i let off the gas????

ok! i sold my car about a week ago. the guy come over to see it. i explained all the detailed things he would need for it. he came back the next day, gave me 800 in cash and a $1200 check. the next day he calls and says hes having problems with it. and he would call the next day. 3 days later his dad calls and says he payed to much. and cancelled the check. now my accounts -$800. and since i dont have the $800 cash back hes calling a laywer. and wont give me my car. and i leave for michigan on the 12th. i wrote a bill of sale AS-IS. is it legal to cancel a check without notifying?

Don't pump gas on May 15th
In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in
protest of gas prices. Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.
On May 15th 2007, all internet users are to not go to a gas station in protest of high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.
There are 73,000,000+ American members currently on the internet network, and the average car takes about 30 to 50 dollars to fill up.
If all users did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,292,000,000.00 (that's almost 3 BILLION) out of the oil companies pockets for just one day, so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.

iam curantly putiing back my top end after replacing some parts and now i cot to the belts. every thing is still seprate from the actual engine so i dont gota loosen anything. iam just having a hard time figuring out what belt goes where. please help.

I was thinking of buying a class 8 Semi truck to tow a 53' box trailer converted into an RV. I got the idea from seeing the NASCAR team's rigs, which are very nicely equipped. I think a big rig would make a radical RV, but what kind of hassles will I be faced with? I'll need a commercial license obviously, but what about tax and licensing? When I travel do I have to stop at truck weigh stations? I currently own a 30ft standard RV, and I travel all around the country. I live in AZ. Will a Semi be a good choice for stepping up the size of my rig, or will I be biting off more than is worth chewing? How much does it cost to get a commercial license anyway? I can afford the truck, but how bad will my operating costs be? I hear stuff about semis paying huge taxes. That's only for commercial use though right? The NASCAR guys don't pay commercial rates cause its a privatley used rig, right?

Is this a good deal? Anyone for or against the X5? Reasons? I drive a Lexus IS300, but really need an SUV. Don't like the RX... Too much of a soccer mom car. Looked at the 4Runner Sport, but the BMW is so much more luxurious, not too mention much faster and more sporty. Thanks for any comments.
