This was the famed 271 HP K code motor used in some Ford products. It was a low production option, but was one of Ford finest.

As said earlier, it featured a solid lifter cam, cast headers and a few other special bits. Although a little weak by today's standards, it would run low 14s and high 13s on the strip in stock form.

Actually, the ordinary four barrel 289 in the stock 1965 Mustang, four speed, on the original tires, and through the muffler turned 13.85, 13.83, and 13.82 on successive passes in the 1/4 mile with me driving, back then. I suspect the 46 extra horses (from 225 to 271) of the hypo would be good for 0.5 seconds or more in the quarter mile.

what are the numbers from the body tag...? is the motor original to the car...? hipo motor from ford meant better cam, intake and carb..., and sometimes heads... vague question ...
