We have just bought a Ford transit turbo diesel longwheel base high cube 2 wheel drive camper van to use as a trade stand at horse shows. Most of these shows are in paddocks where the ground is soft, and muddy when wet. ( did not realise the problem till we got stuck on our own drive, as the wheel span is wider than our drive) would snow chains help? or are there special chains or device available for this ? (In New Zealand) or does anyone know another answer to our problem please? We dont want to sell it and change it for another one if we don't have to.

I left my lights on at work and so when I got off the battery was dead. I found a person to gimmie a jump but when he hooked up the cables he did one side backwards from the other. Surprizingly the battery didn't explode and there was only damage done to the wire that leads (I'm assuming) from the battery to the alternater. It melted in half just before the fuzeable link making it where the van could be jump started and would run as long as the jumper cables remained connected correctly between vehicals but as soon as they came off my battery would immediately drain and the van died. Anyway after fixing the wire and starting the van again every thing seemes to work good as it ever did EXCEPT my radio. I've checked the fuze under my dash and it is not blown but I replaced it with a new one anyway to be safe. The radio is completely dead as if it is not getting any power to it. Does anyone got a clue on whats wrong with it?

I am quickly approaching 100K miles and am planning on changing plugs and wires, and ignition coil boot. I just changed the fuel filter today, and the air filter about 5,000 miles ago. I'm doing a little at a time since I'll get platinum plugs and wires and they are pricey to me.

My husband thinks we should also change all the belts and hoses. My father is a mechanic and I was raised in his shop, and I've never been taught to change those until they are worn out or you actually have a problem. You should know that my husband knows nothing about vehicles except how to change his oil. I've taught him several things about it over the past couple of years. His line of thinking is that he'd rather change them now so that there's less possibility of me breaking down later. I see that line of reasoning, but I just don't think it's necessary.

I need opinions other than my dad's. Please cite sources, preferably websites I can go to, so that I can be convinced or convince him.

Rather than use Toyota car maintenance which is expensive, and now that car is off warantee, which car repair franchise is good for basic maintenance like oil changes, winterizing the car, checking brakes, etc.?

I own a 2000 gmc sierra 1500 4.8L and i have a k&n cold air and flowmaster dual exaust, now i've had these on here for about a year now and i've never had a problem, started when i went up moosehead for a weekend and the roads were veryyy dusty and on the way home my engine light came on, now i figured it was cuz my filter was dirty but i cleaned it n still a problem, dont know if its cuz of that dirt or not. The engine runs fine, when the light came on i didnt notice a difference in performance (no black smoke). I know the code has to do with low volts to the o2 sensors just dont know what to do to fix the problem. Is there a way to trouble shoot or whatever with out having to replace 2 sensors. hard to think 2 would go just like that. i've had the codes cleared plenty of times but they come back on,mostly when u hammer on it.

The charge lasts a day, we let it sit over night and come out in the morning and it's dead. The mechanic ran a battery test and said the battery was good. So what's the draw that keeps it from charging completely. BTW, this truck is a lemon! We bought it new, still only has 70,000 miles on it and it's had nothing but problems.
