Yes it's legal, there are a lot of "salvaged" cars on the road today, and a number of them are better than the origional ("untouched ones")!
The way it was sold could be another, -- if it has been wrecked, you can probably do a "search' on internet and find out how bad it was and what happend! I happen to know a guy that buys 2-3 "Wreck- totaled" cars a year and brings them back to "orig new specs". He buys nothing more than two years old, and has a "waiting line" to buy them, --- when they are finished! He puts only new parts on, and nothing that is in less than "perfect condition" remains on th car, - and he hunts for ones with less than than 25,000 miles (prefers less than 20). When they are finished, they are as good as new, (or beter because all the "coachwork" is done by hand - not a machine!)
If the seller specifically said it was not a "salvaged " car, you might have a case,-- but if he just said it was not a wrecked car --I don't think there is anything that can be done, - as lots of stolen-stripped cars (& "repos" which had the drivetrain removed from them when picked up, - may well be "salvaged cars" too).
If the search comes up as "totaled in a wreck", you might have a case, -- however how has the car been?? If everything is working right, you have have had no problems, and it can't visibly be identified as a "wreck", -- you can't have been hurt very bad could you?? When you get to the bottom line, you are buying "somebody elses problems" anyway, -- when you buy a used car. Buy a new one, - and you have "first crack" at all new problems!

A salvaged title doesn't necessarily mean "wrecked". Sometimes it is due to flood. Which can cause other problems. Yes, it is legal to sell a car with a salvaged title, But is suppose to be disclosed.
If you bought the car through a dealer, you might have a legal leg to stand on. If it was a private party, maybe not.

No it is not illegal to sell salvage cars. But it should have been disclosed to you that it salvaged.

Yes, it legal if it is disclosed. Unless you documentation from the seller indicating what the title status was at the time you bought it, I don't think you have a case.
