The trailblazer is made to last. This is a tough SUV and with 32K on the engine it is almost like new.
I like Hondas best but SUVs can get wear over 50K miles and for resale it is only a 2003, 4 years old. If it was cheaper I would get that one (under 15K).

The Mercury has not been around as long (mountaineers are not too old) therefore they may not have the kinks out yet. It is newer but more of a risk. Mercury would never be my first choice so I put it third here.

Good Luck

I would stay away from the mountaineer because they tend to be prone to drivetrain problems and just seem to be made cheap to me.

I like hondas and own a honda personally but I am not sure if i would have one as an SUV ??? parts and labor are expensive with hondas.

My favorite out of your choices would have to be the trail blazer. they hold up well, ride and drive very nicely, parts are also more plentifull and less expensive if somthing happends to it.

be sure to check the prices out on kelly blue book or nada websites. dealers make a killing off of used cars, you should be able to offer $1000 under retail if the dealer is motivated to make a sale there is a good chance they will take it. oh if you are thinking of trading. try listing your car on ebay with a reserve price of what the dealer is planning on giving you for you vehicle in a 3 day auction. there is a good chance you will get at least 2-3000 over that price.

good luck

If you have to have an SUV look at a Suburban. Yes its a Chevy but if youll look 10 or 12 years back suburbans are dirt cheap these days (no one wants them). They last forever and are cheaper to have worked on than the more hi tech foreign cars. As you pay less than 5K there is little value to lose. It will always be a truck class vehicle and have value as a tow or even a cargo carrier.

i'd say honda pilot. because it gets good gas mileage and it will go to 500k miles easy. a trailblazer is uncomfortable on long trips. my boyfriend sells cars and we used a trailblazer and it killed my back the entire time i was driving. they're all great deals on the suvs. i looked them up on kelley blue book for illinois and they're going for 21 thousand. that's just basic equiptment on it. mountaineer gets 21mpg hwy and 15city. pilot gets 18city and 24hwy. trailblazer only gets 14 city and 17hwy. hope that helps

The Honda every time if you don't want to spend every week hanging around the repair shop waiting.

Honda, simply because it is a reliable foreign car. No offense to American manufacturers, but quality needs to become a priority again.
