a salvage rebuilt can be resold to a private party because it has already been fixed. A straight salvage title can not be reassigned except to a licensed rebuilder or salvage yard. If you have a signed statement saying the vehicle was not a salvage vehicle then I would get a lawyer quick. You could be entitled to both the vehicle and damages from the persons who sold you the vehicle. There should also be a sticker somewhere on the vehicle stating it is a rebuilt vehicle. Not all rebuilt vehicles though were total loss rebuilds. Some are stolen and recovered vehicles with minor damage. Some insurance cars will sell them as salvage to rebuilders. This car could have been a flood car also. Get all your paperwork together and go see a good lawyer. I would definitely accidentally on purpose let the name and addy of the person from whom you bought the vehicle slip out online. It might help the next person who is thinking about buying a vehicle from them to be more careful..

On your original buyers order it should say "Salvage" title. In most states a dealer cannot sell a private party a salvage car. You may be able to get all your money back, and the Bank who held the title is in hot water also. You need an attorney.

You may have just hit the jackpot!

Contact your state attorney's office. The method of resolution varies from state to state. If you have papers that say the car was never salvaged, you are entitled to some type of relief, most likely monetary damages.
