how to remove rear rotors from ford explorer?

the calipers slide off easily does the large center nut need to be removed ?

You do not need to remove the center nut or the bracket. Your problem is the rotors are caught up on the parking brake which look similar to drum shoes only smaller. I have run into this problem several times. Sometimes you can grab it from the left/right or top/bottom and wiggle it loose. Other times you might have to look for the access hole on the back and turn the adjuster wheel for the parking brake shoes to contract them. Hope this helps.

Do not remove that center nut... There is another set of bolts back behind the wheel to the caliper brace. If you still have problems buy some wd40 or pb blaster and spray it. tap it lightly cuz you don't want to bang the wheel bearrings bad. Work it like you love the vehicle.

Its a Ford, sometimes if a little love can't get the rotors off, a little warming from a torch may help. Just dont overheat and fry the wheel bearings. And, you didnt specify the year, the e-brake shoes may be hanging up, in that case, a screwdriver or adjustment paddle may be what you need.

Use wheel chocks (blocks) at the front tires and take the parking destroy off. Then jack up the motorcar and pull the wheels off. get rid of the caliper and the rotors could slide off. If not the brake shoes for the parking/E- brake may nicely be putting up contained in the rotor "hat", if it really is the case, that is necessary to diminish backtrack the adjuster.

if it's anything like my ford expedition you have a bracket that won't let the rotor come loose but ya have to unbolt the bracket if there is one but the rotors need to be tapped off with a rubber malet mine was stuck on just took a few wacks good luck
