Small Business - March 2007

It has to do with running peoples dogs starting with the area I live. I don't want to get sued should something go wrong. I want my idea and name to be completely protected and legit.

I would like to start my own business and I don't really know what kind of license I should get. I was thinking about an LLC, but not exactly sure if that's best for me. I want to open up a little boutique featuring my own clothing line. Does anyone had any suggestions?

Donating portion of proceeds to Humane society
No employees except myself.
No business license I looked up laws and don't think I need one
Providing own equipment
Any laws on advertising I live downtown and want to drop off flyers also possibly hang signs on light poles?
I might need power supply from homeowner if additional services requested
Probably not doing fertilization unless license is inexpensive for this in which I would need a license correct? Also I think I would need certification am I correct?
Would fert. be possible if they provide fertilizer and I just apply?

Ive a business idea:
to walk up and down busy city centre main streets in the UK selling warm pies out of somekind of body-attached cool box at around 2-4am (when people come out of pubs/bars/clubs)...

would i need to purchase any kind of permit?
would i get in trouble if i just went out and sold them without any permit?
would you buy a warm pie for a good price after a night out?
... if so what maximum price would you pay?

I need to be able to start accepting credit cards at craft fairs but I do not yet have a merchant account, I understand these are difficult to obtain if your business is not up and running (but how do you get it up and running without one!!). Is it possible to use a manual swipe machine and if so do you need a merchant account still or can these be processed via paypal? I'd appreciate any helpful answers! Any other ideas would be great.
