Chelene …
ALWAYS pay through PAYPAL and ALWAYS fund with a CREDIT CARD!
if you don't have a CC, get one before you bid on anything.
it is the safest way to pay.
if you get caught by a shady seller or a HIJACKED ACCOUNT, you have the option of filing for a CHARGEBACK from your CC provider.
ebay and PAYPAL can not protect you from a seller that has cleaned out their account. you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip!
but the CC provider can squeeze it out of PAYPAL!

I use ebay all the time and if it's a pricey item, do NOT send a money order. You have absolutely no recourse if something goes wrong. If you pay by credit card, you can do a charge back if the item is not as described. If you use PayPal, you can also file a dispute if something goes wrong (it's worked for me).
When buying anything on ebay, pay strict attention to the seller's feedback rating. You can tell an awful lot from what other buyers say about them.
Other rules I live by:
I never EVER bid on anything that's being sold out of China.
If you have any questions about something you're interested in, ask the seller that question BEFORE you bid.
If the listing has no photograph, ask the seller if they can send one.
Read the entire listing carefully. Sometimes, people put empty boxes up for bid --- and say very clearly that it's nothing but the box -- and people STILL bid on the empty box thinking they're getting what's inside -- which is nothing.

PAYPAL !!!! I can not stress enough ! Its so easy and the seller does not get your bank info. 98% of EBay sellers rather have a paypal account payment it makes the transition fast and easy. refunding money in case you do not get what you want or it come damaged is done faster also. plus once you win an idem or win a buy it now you can pay right then and there. without the hassell or wait that mailing the seller your money takes and you have a paper trail for your records that you can keep online or print out. I'm a purple star on ebay and i've only been on there since last Nov. Good LUck and welcome to the world of EBAYING!!!!

it depends on the seller.
some will take a check or money order by mail, some will take a credit card, some will only take paypal.
NEVER give a seller your bank account number or credit card number, use paypal.

I say send a money order because you do not want people to know your personal info. And first you have to set up an account.
